New Member Says Hi, and a Question
Hi,
I'd like to introduce myself. I'm Alan from Central Scotland. I've recently bought a 2004 Tiger 955i in British Racing Green. Love it
It looks like there's a wealth of info on here - looking forward to participating.
And a question... My Trip meter resets itself every time I switch off the ignition key. Any ideas anyone? All other electrics seem to behave ok.
Alan

Are your clock and accessory plug working? If not, try replacing fuse #3. The Tiger is generally user-friendly, but still has enough character to make life interesting...in a good way! Welcome to the madness.....

Hi again and thanks for the replies so far.
Graeme - Yep there's some great driving roads up here but it'll probably be spring before I see much of them. Call me a woose, but realistically I'm more of a fair weather biker I'm afraid.
TucsonBill - I've not checked the accessory socket but the clock (and everything else) works ok.
KuzzinKenny - Great to see there's more tiggers than me in the central belt. I've a workmate near you who's also got a bike - I'll keep an eye out for you if I'm out your way.
As a further thought on my problem I've just bought my bike from a guy who rarely used her. I wonder if the battery had been flat or disconnected for a lengthy period. I know some computers have a small battery soldered inside them to remember the clock time etc - Perhaps the Tiger dash has a similar set-up which loses it's charge/shelf life if not used. Further suggestions/ideas welcome. Obviously it's not a major problem but I'd like to get to the bottom of it.

Alan,
Welcome to Tiger ownership. I'm sure once you cure the trip meter problem you'll grow to love the bike. I'm up to 58K on mine and still think it's the best bike ever made.
So to your problem. I'm guessing a bit but what I do know is that the trip reading will reset to zero whenever the battery is disconnected so it needs a feed from the battery when the ignition is off to keep the reading. I'm sure it's a fuse that's the cause so the first thing to do is check all the fuses. I have found that sometimes discription in the fusebox lid is misleading. Good luck.

No little batteries, I researched that when mine had the #3 fuse problem. The memories are maintained by being connected to a hot circuit, hot from the main battery. If the fuse doesn't solve it, I would guess it's a wiring fault.

Thanks again for the further replies. I've not got the bike at my home at the moment but I'll hopefully be able to check your suggestions at the weekend. I'll report back my findings.

When I traded my first tiger in this happened just after I had pulled out all the leds and relays I has installed.
I am sure its just a fuse somewhere that has blown.
