Little Lesson Learned

I'm used to the slight forward slope or flat seat of my ST and standard bikes.

So, I was on the Tiger for a quick errand in the rain the other day. Wouldn't be out long, so I just wore my jeans and skipped the overpants.

Guess what? The big scoop at the front end of the seat funnels the water right down to pool...guess where? Seriously cold and wet at the crotch. Really wished I'd had my Roadcrafter pants on!

This morning the rain had changed to snow, so I was properly kitted-up before going out, the seat funnel effect wasn't an issue.

I don't recall seeing that warning in an owner's manual.

Yep, join the club. Learned that lesson coming home from work in a thunderstorm and didn't have my rain pants with me. Rain gear on board all the time now.

Another handy tip

Another tip I have learnt the hard way is that when riding in heavy rain tuck gloves inside sleeves of jacket. I rode to Germany with it raining all the way and my gloves were dry thanks to the hand guards but my hands were soaked. The rain was running down the sleeves of the jacket into the gloves!
