Trail Attack vs Road Attack

Having had nothing but praise for the Road Attacks on my 955, I thought I'd try the TrailAttacks for their appearance and to compare against the Roads.

So I ordered a pair, to be delivered to my local bike shop and fitted during the scheduled service.

Picked the bike up and thought the front pattern looked very similar to the RoadAttack but the rear was different, but not overtly 'off road'.

Had a double check this morning and the front IS a RoadAttack, the rear a Trail. Oops, sorry says the supplier, do you want to swap one or take a discount on your next pair ?

Had a chat about the issue of mixing patterns/compounds and it turns out the two tyres are EXACTLY the same, just a different tread pattern. So not really mixing anything.

Anyway, they feel lovely as do all new tyres. Sharp turn in and even though not scrubbed in yet it was wet this morning but not a hint of slip or slide.

Definitely my preferred tyre, looked for Pilot Roads to compare but they were much, much more expensive.

I normally use Trail Attacks. Great tire, traction and tread life are the best I've found having tried almost everything I can get with a 19" front.
Well I couldn't get a set of Trails in time for a recent trip so i mounted a set of Road Attacks and off I went. Five days and 4k miles later the front still looks good but the rear is done. Kind of disappointing as I thought it was the same compound as the Trail just a different tread pattern.
So back to the Trail Attacks for me...

4k !!!

I got 9K out of my last Roadattack rear, squared and getting close to illegal but there was still life in it.

That wasn't loaded up though, even so 4k sounds very poor.
