Tour of Scotland
come the 9th October I hopefully will be hitting road for a tour of Scotland. Up from the midlands to Loch Lommand, onto Fort William, Ullapool, Tongue Where i will be taking a right turn and heading south to Inverness and the Cairngorms Edinburgh and then down the east coast back to the midlands.
If you know this route and know of good places to eat and stay the heads up would be gratefully received, if not it will be fun finding them on the day myself.
the Tigga is having a new front boot to make her happy.
Lets just hope the weather clears up a little up there, not that riding in the rain bothers me but for 5 days I may change my mind
Cheers all

Last visit to Scotland, I stayed at Lochgoilhead which is a village not far from Loch Lomond. Fabulous.
If you get to Kyle of Lochalsh, look for Plocton a village just along the coast. Fabulous sea food at the Plocton Inn

I have stayed here a few times, great value and great food. The bonus is it's on a great road between Inverness and Ullapool.

I can recommend the Invergarry Hotel in Invergarry. It's well placed to get to Ullapool and Tongue in a day and the road to Kyle of Lochalsh,Gairloch and Ullapool is the best in Scotland (for me). The hotel has been refurbished and has good food, beer and whisky. Not the cheapest, about £90 for a double for B&B. Alternatively there are B&B houses up the road and you can go to the hotel for food and drink. You won't be disappointed.

Went there again 2 years back and agree its a must see place. Brilliant roads all the way there, espesh through Glen Coe.
Bike mag did a run up to the top recently and this months also mentions what roads they took, probably the same ones some of our lads took last year.
Best to keep in mind that going to Scotland = a good chance of getting wet, enjoy

I based my tours up there on the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. i.e. places to stay with good beer in the evening.
So......At various times I've stayed at......
Drumnadrochit ~ Benleva Hotel 01456-450080
Ullapool ~ Morefield Motel 01854-612161
Brora ~ Sutherland Arms Hotel 01408-621209
I've just checked the 2010 GBG and the majority of the entries in the Highlands section do accommodation. So buy the guide and the world is your oyster. £15.99 well spent or £11 for CAMRA members. SPAM? No I'll have a Deuchars IPA.
