A couple of people have said they were interested to see what I had say about my new 05 Tiger when I finally got it. I bought this bike without ever having seen one. I depended a lot on the info I saw posted on the Tiger forum. Thanks for that folks. Well I'm just over 200 miles into the bike now and liking it a lot, in general. I live on dirt roads, so I appreciate the suspension being good enough to take dirt, potholes, etc. at fast speeds. Ocassionally I have to get up out of the seat to add a little shock adsoption, but that's O.K. I wish the tank were not quite so gangly, but I can live with that. Today I took it down a couple miles of lava rock trail ( The kind that my wife on the back said "You sure you want to go down there".). We were heading to a favorite fresh/saltwater snorkeling place that I normally take my old 4WD truck to. It did pretty well on the medium size loose rock. On sand and smaller loose rock, not so good. Possibly too heavy for that. We made it in with only a few slips and slides. On the way out I was trying to take it too easy on my wife and hit a small lava climb a little too slow. So, I dropped it already. Luckily no tank scratches. Just a few on one of the panniers. I got off very easy. Snapped part of a footpeg off too. Looks like they are made of pretty crappy metal. Probably gonna cost a bunch for a new one. None of this would have happened had I been riding single. I would have had the speed and momentum to go up and over with no problem. Overall, it is a very stable bike for being so tall. Rides nice on the highway and slides straight when you lock up the back brakes. Seems like it will have a lot of get up and go once I can open up the revs a bit. Got a couple of Harley friends just dying to have a go at it. The orange color gets a lot of attention. I've never ridden anything before and had a car pull up to me in traffic and say "Nice bike man." which happened yesterday. Exhaust sounds like #*&$#$#. I suppose I'll get used to riding a sewing machine. Windscreen is pretty useless normally, but it does deflect rain if you duck down behind it. Lots of rain here! However, I would not want a taller one. I don't want to make this bike any bigger than it already is. Killer horn! Have not had a chance to ride at night yet to check the lights, but in my driveway they look very bright. It's a***** to get up on the centerstand. Gearing seems a little too low. Can't really tell for sure until I can wind it up a little more. And, it winds very quickly! Possibly one of the best things about this bike is this forum support group. Quick answers to any questions and that is really helpful. If I come up with anything else worth mentioning I'll write on the subject again.
