Just put on a new rear and now I am wondering if the left spacer(looking from rear) is like a pipe nipple or if it has a larger flat surface like the one on the rght side of the wheel.I know,I have to breakdown and get a manual one of these days.
The reason I ask is now I rotate the wheel and I hear a sound like rubber rubbing.Chainguard is not rubbing, but thought maybe the spacer was rubbing on the rubber part of the seal/bearing.
Tia.

Tia-

Flange is fitted with wide end up against swing arm on right side.

So if you think of it is a top hat, the brim is toward the outside of the bike and the top is toward the wheel.

Hope that helps.

Fred

Sorry about that. The left side is just a donut like spacer with no flange.

Are sure the noise you are hearing is not just the chain? Another possibility is that it is the rotor rubbing on the brake pads which had to be separated a little when you removed teh tire. Try just applying the rear brake once or twice. Finally, check to make sure the rear wheel is aligned properly.

Hope that helps,
Fred

I have a similar problem. I noticed yesterday that my sprocket bolts were rubbing against the swing arm. Carved a little grove in it ....eek. I'm not sure how it happened. I think the right side chain tightener slipped and caused the wheel to lean a little left. After realigning the wheel, the bolts clear the swing arm, but the gap is still reeeeal close.

I have to get off my arse and pull the rear wheel. Perhaps I lost a spacer when I had my tire replaced a few thousand miles ago. Now I know what to look for. Thanks guys.

I used to have a squeek like that, traced it to the rear wheel spindle. One or two drops of oil cured it.
