Anyone watching the Dakar ??
Hi Tigers,
Any of you watching the Dakar ??
Those KTM's are the dog's danglies.
Some real hero's on bikes there. In the saddle all day on the loose stuff, at those speeds
Didn't see any Tigers ?? I wonder just how long a Tiger would last in an environment like that ??

The Dakar is one of my favourites, and it's good to see that it's in Latin America for a change, Northern Africa is getting too close to boiling point again.
As for those Orange things, they sound good, handle brilliantly, but I do know some people who own them, and they all live up to the acronym of KTM Thousands (Ks) To Maintain. If they ever get their act together and can produce a bike that doesn't do a clutch in 20,000km, I might be persuaded.

Love the race.
TV coverage here in the U.S. is only a 1/2 hour summary of the previous day's stage; and most of that is devoted to the 4-wheel vehicles. It's better than no coverage at all; which is what we get for the Isle of Man TT and I.S.D.E.
You are not likely to see any Tigers in the Dakar...way too heavy.

Nope, no Triumphs at all.
Here is the list http://www.dakar.com/2009/DAK/RIDERS...8-engages.html of all 235 Moto entrants, including a pair of Jingchens, one of which is being ridden by a Chinese Stuntman.....ah, hold that I think they're both out.
http://www.dakar.com/2009/DAK/LIVE/u...ement/CGM.html is the current standings.

Yeah watching it and it's addictive, I'm cheering on Stan Watt, Front Row G.B, who was doing really well until time penalties after stage 10 put him back down the field, I've got to go and ride through some of that countryside sometime the scenery is absolutely stunning, (obviously not the course as I'd probably last ten minutes), and I am also finding myself strangely attracted to the Orange side.

Daily, but just the 1/2 hour we get here in the US.
Whish I could watch more coverage.
Amazing what these riders do!
