What is everyone running for tank guards on their Generation II Tiger 800's? I've recently installed these from Hebco & Becker. The build quality seems very nice. The install went pretty well, I did receive one wrong item that I was able to get mailed out to me within a couple days.
Those are some great looking bars! I actually like the looks of them better than the SW Motechs on my TEX. They look like they will give excellent tank protection.
I was looking at the Hepco Beckers as they are an "addition" to the lower guards. So I wouldn't have to buy a whole unit and just "junk" the lower guards.
I saw your post before the edit, I see you scared away because of reports for an older model bike. The bars for the XCx mount nothing like the older bikes. There is no longer a tab that goes back beside the head which in a fall bends into the head and breaks it. You should have left your earlier post, that way I could have answered the questions you asked.
And the back story behind that incident was the guy got side swiped by a vehicle and then it crashed. That's a lot different than dropping the bike.
Has anyone tried the Heed crash bars? They cover the engine and tank so I would have to sell the Triumph engine bars. They are cheaper than the Hepco Beckers. $215 on ebay.
They look to me like they were originally designed for the pre 15 bikes because the bars don't really seem to flow with the shrouds of the 15 bikes. They just look like bars going all over the place.
Hi Jeff, do your knees touch the bars at all? I am tall with long legs and someone said that knees might touch - doesn't look like it to me. I think they look like very good coverage and would like to know how you like them. Any pros/cons? Thanks Dave
I have the Hepco & Becker bars so my knees don't come anywhere near touching. The picture I posted above of the Heed bars I took from another forum. On that forum a couple guys complained of their knees touching that rear mount bolt.
One thing I really like about the HB bars is that just two bolts per side and the bars come right off for service.
Love them. Definitely recommended. Little bit fiddly to install so make sure you have some extension bars for your socket sets to mount the brackets but apart from that it's pretty easy.
Nice animated gif, They are on my list as next upgrade for sure!
