Tank protectors

Any opinions on tank protector stickers? Good /bad idea? Any suggestions on brands? Will the adhesive permanently damage paint? Thanks

I have the rubber pad from Triumph. You should be able to take it off with a hair dryer but why try.If you need more coverage then try the 3M film. I have that on my
BMW K1600 GTL it will come off again with a hair dryer.

I was going to buy the paint protection kit from Triumph, but I remembered that a friend of mine did automotive clear bras as a side business. He was able to do the back of my tank, the entire front beak, and the headlight from scrap pieces he had on hand. He custom-made the patterns for each respective areas mentioned above. Using one piece per area took a bit of work to stretch into place because of all the compound curve/angles, but he did good job with it. I believe he uses the XPEL brand of film. It looks good!

The clear films are not supposed to block UV, so that the painted areas that are covered will not fade at a different rate than the uncovered ones, in case you decide to remove it later. As mentioned, a hair dryer will aid in the removal. The adhesive won't damage the paint.

I cant bring myself to put clear film on the Tiger, its supposed to look rugged. I did put the Triumph pad on as it gives it character. I figure when the paintr gets messed up enough I will paint the bike with BBQ Grill flat black paint out of a $5 rattle can.
