HIDs for new Tiger 800

Has anyone put HIDs on the new Tiger 800 to replace the stock bulbs? Where did you install the ballasts? If you have done this successfully, can you please post pictures?

thanks!

Not necessary. Twin H4 setup is brilliant. Replace the stock filaments if you feel the need - Osram Night Breaker plus was what I used. Compared to my Tiger 1050 with Hids the 800 is streets BETTER.

Good to know, thanks. Couldn't find the Osram bulbs so I ordered the PIAA Intense White ones. Is the process of changing the bulbs fairly simple to do for someone who is not very mechanically inclined?

Simple enough. The black rear covers twist off revealing the bulb & connector. Pull off connector, then open spring retainer and remove bulb. Reverse to fit new bulbs. DO NOT touch the glass of the bulbs as this can cause them to fail quite quickly due to the oils on your skin.

That's easy enough!

I think the bulbs should be here today along with my Givi Case and new Helmet. It's going to be a busy and fun night!

Put them on last night and they work great. White, bright light without the yellowing of the OEM.

HID's in a non-HID housing is never a good idea. Not a sharp enough cutoff and you end up loosing a lot of light to scatter. They may look bright if you look at them but that's because a lot of the light isn't hitting the road. I learned the hard way
