MY BAD! It is still chain drive, as the 2007 1050. The new one weighs 479 lbs and the 2007 weighs 437 (non ABS). The porky, by comparison, 42 extra pounds came from the single sided swing arm (SSSA) that I mistakenly remembered as being a shaft as well. Personally, I think the SSSA is an interesting feature but I wouldn't sacrifice much to get it. Far more attractive is the fly-by-wire throttle that will accommodate Cruise Control. I don't know what was gained by revising the 2007's geometry but I do know it was never complained about in any review I ever read and the thought about it being improvable in any way never crossed my mind but anything can be improved. Usually when they mess with something that has no reported deficiency they only mess it up.

Pity we don't get this triumph model in the states. I am not putting down the Sport.

Double,

I have a Tiger 2007 and that should be identical to yours...stock. I have installed a Penske shock and had GP fork kits installed. I am pretty happy with my bike. I find it more of an upright seated Sport than a Tourer but it is bagged out and will pack a ton if I want her to. Headlights have been upgraded to always on shutter lens HID(35 watt) with 9000 candle power of Komi LEDs. I can ignite a coyote at 50 yards.

Waht all have you done to your 2008?

Maybe PM is better

I've just traded in my 2010 Speed Triple for a new 2016 Tiger Sport and I love it. It is much more comfortable after spending the last 11 years on Speed Triples (which I also loved). The longer travel suspension is greatly appreciated over our appalling road surfaces here in the UK. It also fits me much better at 6 ' 2" tall. I am also pleased that it has a self cancelling indicator mode as I am always forgetting to turn off my indicators. The only other bike I have ever had with them was a 1979 Yamaha SR500 but that usually cancelled them too soon.

I'll try and attach a photo of the new bike. I think it looks great but I know that it a matter of opinion. I also think it is great value compared to the equivalent BMW, Ducati etc., even if probably not quite as sharp or modern.

Nice ride Degsy! I have a 2013 Tiger Sport. Best bike I've had, and I've had few, including four other Triumphs. Sorry for riders in the states if they can't get them.

Wind Noise

I test drove a Tiger Sport today and it is really comfortable, fast and feels agile. I currently have a Street Twin and looking for something better for touring. The main disappointment was the wind noise from the screen. From 30mph up there is a ripping sound similar to someone using a mike in the wind. Has anyone else has this problem? Any solutions? There is noise on my Street Twin and the Thruxton I tested but it is a smooth rushing sound that is perfectly bearable.

You can add a deflector to the windshield. I made mine, and it cut wind noise by more than half.
They are available commercially.
Pictured is a Puig (about $108)

I personally find that having the screen on the maximum height and wearing earplugs works for me. I'm 6 foot 2 inches tall and I suppose it does depend on your height. Those clip on screen additions look terrible in my humble opinion. I don't think Triumph provide a bigger screen although there may be aftermarket alternatives but I haven't seen any. I love this bike and it does everything I want. The matt black version is really easy to clean too with no polishing anywhere for a lazy sod like me!

That's the way I ride mine and currently fine with my 180mile/day commute. I'm 6'4 and find it very comfortable.

Initially thought it very noisy but turned out my visor was out of alignment. Different angles meant I didn't notice it on my last bike (Sprint GT). Also found the changed angle means I need to keep the top vent closed and open the rear one on my Shoei GT air - exactly the opposite to the Sprint. Course with the current weather its really quiet as I am riding with a neoprene neck tube - and the noise definitely comes from the bottom. When I checked a couple of months ago there were no aftermarket screens. I did try to change the angles with home made brackets. Interestingly when I put the screen back on after my fiddling it was better - so there is a chance that it wasn't correctly fitted when I bought the bike.
