and just to be the devils' advocate, I have used K&N filters on everything I own for at least 20 years without a single failure.... A couple of my vehicles were in the 80psi oil pressure range too!
As with anything mass produced there are bound to be a few incidents at some point... You should contact K&N and tell them what happened. I am sure they would be interested in learning what happened and may even send you a replacement/refund....
I wrote K&N on June 24th. I've heard nothing.
This was my first K&N oil filter. I agree that mass production can let a few get by. I'm not upset really. Surprised mostly. Can't say having no rear brake for 750 miles was comforting but I made it just fine. It was the 2 days of detailing and disassembly to get all the oil out that was the inconvenience.
