de-catted today
de-catted the tiger today. not too bad but recommend you have the correct tools. used a long 3/8" hss drill with no problems. also had a new sharp cold steel chisel, a hook from a coat hanger, and a good bright flashlight. drill holes as close to each other as possible and as far to the outside diameter as possible and then one in the middle. then chisel the webs in between the holes. this was a PIA but just took my time.. about a 2 hour project. modified the airbox last week and have a new K & N on the way too. also a TORS tune yesterday from the local dealer. charged me 40.00 to load. (needed a new inspection sticker anyway). running an Arrow race can !!! will consider going to a 19t sprocket if not too much involved.....

You can also remove the bikes secondary air injection system now if you want,
There are a few kits on-line to blank of the Reed valves,
You can also use the non SAI TOR tune once done,
Can all be done with Tune-Ecu,
Happy Days

ok. got the k & n filter in last night (and stripped out a bolt in the frame...sux). TORS tune a few weeks ago, air box mod, and de-catted too. went out for a quick ride this morning. HOLY CRAP! this is a new bike. not that the tiger was slow or a dog by any means, but it is totally different. i hammered the throttle thru the first 3 gears and was blown away. front wanted to come up like never before. not interested in that since i am 56 years old and those days are over...lol. honestly though it was great. would highly recommend these mods to everyone.....ride safe guys!

Great site about 1050s.
http://www.adrianmolloy.com/1050_Extras_Tuning_Cat.html
Explains all about CAT removal.
Its inside the exhaust under the gearbox.

Sai
What would I gain by disabling this and also what would the new non-SAI MAP be worth?
Thank you,
John

You gain nothing by disabling the SAI. You may have less future headaches if the reed valves get cruddy and cause problems--about the only benefit I can see. Someone posted that "now you can get rid of the SAI...." Those two systems (SAI and CAT) are independent of each other--one has nothing to do with the other.
If you really want to get your Tiger running smooth and powerful take a ride over to Alabama and have Wayne at PowerTripp Performance do a custom tune for your bike...OR...look on that other forum for Indy's tune and install it yourself using TuneECU. Indy had his bike tuned by Wayne with the following mods: Airbox snorkel out, CAT out, Open exhaust silencer, K&N filter, no SAI. (SAI is no big deal...one can simply turn it on or off in a tune using Tune ECU prior to downloading the tune to one's ECU). One other forum member (AKOldman) on that other forum has made his custom tune (from Wayne) available to anyone wanting to try it. His bike had the following when tuned: Remus PowerCone with baffle installed, Airbox snorkel out, Stock air filter, CAT out, SAI disabled. I put my baffle in Uncle Remus and downloaded AKO's tune and I now have a new bike--no more Triumph screwed up tunes for me. More Smiles per gallon than I ever dreamed possible.
