I dropped my Storm off at the dealer yesterday so he could address a recurring coolant leak. When the tech attempted to pull the tank, one of the the tank mounts was completely broken and hanging loose on the bolt. The other side had a hairline fracture in the weld as well. Dealer was flabbergasted, said he had never seen this happen before. He immediately filed a case with Triumph, advised the entire frame might have to be replaced under warranty.
I'm freaking out a little as allowing the dealer to tear down to the frame and reassemble seems like a bad idea to me. Spot welding to repair sounds even worse. I'm thinking any frame repair will always cast doubt on its integrity. Even the dealer said he would not recommend.
So I'm supposed to follow up with TNA today as well as the dealer. The dealer kept the bike, said that while they could button it all up, he could not put me safely back on the road with the tank not 100% secure.
But he did fix the coolant leak. :applause:applause:applause
