TOR Tune Download; has it been updated yet?
Anyone speak to their dealer about this yet? My TOR's were installed in early August 09 and I had the tune loaded after much bull about having the right tune and eqipment to load it. Now that things are going smoothly and most distribution/service kinks are worked out, I wonder if they perfected the TOR tune. I know it is a characteristic of the bike to pop on decel but I think it's anoying and wondering if there is a new tune to richen it up a bit.........anything since August 09?????????
I don't have enough nerve to call Atlanta again after my coolant issue. They're gonna think I'm a pain in the ass.

Being a pain in the ass in most cases get things done. If only to get you off their back. Popping on decel is an indicator of a LEAN air/fuel mixture. If you can remove one of the spark plugs, without too much trouble, check the color of the plug tip. If its chalky white your mixture is too lean. Color should be light tan. I have yet been able to get an answer from anyone as to the air/fuel ratio on a stock 1600cc T-Bird engine. My Harley in stock condition runs 14.7/1.0 which is way too lean. I installed a ThunderMax and solved the problem. I understand that Power Commander is developing a EFI control unit for the T-Bird.

Yeah, i'm here, but i'm as in the dark as you. I think once it is updated, if it ever is, we will hear about it before too long. Of course you can always call dealers occasionally and ask them. The bike is horribly lean with the TORs and stock tune, and the TORs tune is better but still not good. In fact i don't think there is a state of tune yet thats not lean, be it stock, tors, BB, BB w/tors, etc. Even tho the bike is considered illegal with tors i've come to the conclusion judging from all i've read that triumph is being stubborn about allowing richer tunes for the bike because of EPA concerns. Not sure why that is since they are already considered illegal by the EPA, but thats what i've been led to believe. It seems like they want all thier bikes to run lean.

It may be a good question for Mickey.
All the dealer service techs I speak with act as though they know everything because they dont want some customer like me clueing them in on the business they should know. Its like they think I'm telling them how to do their job. To ask them to confirm there is an updated tune is like asking them to date their daughter..... We need an inside "neutral" advisor.
Maybe it's just the area I live in; between Washington DC and New York. People can be very arrogant.
I've even taken out my Performance Air-Filter to help. I bet an extra squirt of juice would not only help deceleration popping but also give it a couple HP on the top where we need it the most!

Ray,I wouldn't leave the filter out. Whatever you gain by that will be lost in the long run by wear on the valves and rings by dirt entering the engine. I run K&N filters on my race cars and saw a huge difference in wear from no filter. Also saw no difference in performance.

Air/Fuel Ratio
I contacted the folks at DynoJet yesterday. They advised that, in fact, they have a EFI control unit for the T-Bird under development.
This should take care of the lean a/f ratio.

Yeah, DJ has had it 'under development' for some time now. Getting tired of 'under development' and want to know when they are going to get the bloody thing to market. Getting a bit tired of the wait and the lack of any sort of projection on when it will be ready.
At least they aren't as bad as progressive who have an existing bolt on product that they can't seem to give the okie dokie on as if the bird is some sort of alien craft they've never seen before. At lest DJ has to actually develop something.

I think what he was actually saying that because the bike runs so lean he took the aftermarket filter out but replaced it with the lower flowing stock filter to cut the lean factor down a bit.
