mid-mounts -- not!

Found out yesterday the footrest brackets on the t-bird are bolted direct into the crankcases, on a cast -in shoulder . Not easy to make up new brackets to alter them rearwards, so my idea for more mid-mounted pegs (fixed to a non existent frame rail) is a no-no.
My info from the dealer is Triumph dealers in the UK are not keen to fit the BB kit (£1000 in labour plus the cost of the kit, and it's complicated!) so Triumph have had to agree to factory-build them as 1700 options for new orders. price is £1000ish over base and they're taking orders now for March delivery. Seems they'll build 1700's to order.
Oh and Triumph built the Texalium Speed Triple special with the Ohlins forks seen in Milan as a show bike and you can't buy one, shame.

Hi,

I'm not sure if I understod you correctly but here's one t-bird with 'forwarded' pegs :

http://www.nettimoto.com/simple_dealer/viewVehicle.php?id_bike=842746&id_template=6&sitel ang=2&PN[0]=list_dealer&PL[0]=listDealer.php&PN[1]=owner_vehicle&PL[1]=simple_dealer/6.php?id_user=124989@id_template=6

Seller says, that customer that bought this t-bird was HUGE and replaced original pegs with more forward ones from H-D and eventually bought Triumph Rocket III.

He's talking about "mid" pegs. In other words, set BACK from the stock position, not forward. That would be harder due to the cases i would think.

Ok, I thought other way around based on the title of this topic (thought that he was not satisfied with "too-mid-position" of pegs.

Hell, I think that would be harder just from the fact that there isn't much in the 'mid' of this bike. Unless you are jockey sized I'm not sure how you'd get your foot back to a mid position without cramming your knees up your ass. (which isn't really my cup of tea). The bird is a pretty conservative foot forward position it feels nearly like a standard to me because of my height. It seems like reversing a foot extension and bringing the pegs back 3" would do the trick for most average sized folks.

I'm confused. Why would anyone want to place mid pegs on this bike? They're not really *that* far forward to begin with and the thing is like a barcalounger as it is. I guess if you are really determined to make it more uncomfortable then I say go for it!

I agree. But what a lot of people don't understand is that if they had mid pegs on it they would probably realize the low seat height is why they are forward in the 1st place and probably end up not liking the mid pegs.

If the seat were a little higher and the pegs a little further back, I'd have probably bought one today. I just prefer a more standard position.

You could try removing the pegs altogether and just drag your feet behind you. Then you could lean it over til you ground off your elbows.
