Windscreen Recommendations

…just ordered a Thunderbird.

And I’m shopping for a windscreen that basically diverts most the wind off my chest. In the past, the top of the windshield was eye level however this created turbulence and “buffeting” around the helmet! Buffeting I want to avoid, I don’t mind “undisturbed” airflow around the helmet (like on a sport bike).

As you know, this can be a trial and error process costing bucks. So, I thought to ask the forum for suggestions (experiences, brand names, sizes, etc.)

Thanks!

I went with the Triumph branded quick-release because I liked the height, wrap around the light, and wanted the lowers. Several others have reported liking hte Windvest models. I had one of those on my America and it was pretty nice too...

I have the Roadster screen on mine, along with the lowers. The buffeting is bad enough for me to want to try the Windvest. Like you, I'd just like to get the wind off my chest.

I also have the Roadster and have buffeting above 55-60 mph.

Someone on this forum has the short screen and it looks nice. I'd be curious if it lacks buffeting. If so, it might be the way to go.

I'm fairly certain ALL of the screens have the same problem with buffeting.

I have the Summer Screen (short) and the buffeting comes and goes... sometimes is pretty bad. Not always there at the same speeds. Seems to depend on the wind direction that day. This screen does get the wind off of your chest......

Good Info, thanks!

It sounds like there's no absolute solution unless you ride inside a capsule (goldwing)....

I'm certain there's a solution. We just have to find it.

Well, I had a Triumph summer screen on the America...disappointing. Then I switched to another windscreen at eyelevel...same issue at a different speed.

Perhaps the "fly" screen is the answer, just to divert wind off the chest.

I like Windvest and will call them later.

There's another thread here were the poster says he mounted a screen from a Shadow on the Bird. If I can figure out how he did it, I might try picking one up cheap and experiment with some venting.
