Crankshaft issue.

My dealer has told me that there is an issue with the crankshafts. He told me that all the current bikes have a new revised crank. Anyone heard about this?

I'll have to ask my dealer on Tuesday. Should be an easy thing to deal with when I get the BB install if there is in fact an issue.

Maybe issue was the wrong term. He said they had a revised crank. I don't know if there was an issue maybe they just made it better.

Assuming triumph actually agrees to a warranty fix. And if so, this will be the deciding factor to go with the BB myself. After all, if they are taking it down to replace the crank i may as well, plus theres a chance i could save part of the install cost since they would have the engine out anyways.

Funny how no-one has ever mentioned a crank shaft related issue on this forum. You would think if there actually was a problem someone here would have experienced it already.

Well, like BB said it may not be an "issue". In other words, it may be something that hinders performance or some such thing that doesn't cause something you'd be aware of. If thats the case it would actually be worse because it wouldn't be a recall or warranty issue. the new crank might just be considered an improvement by triumph.

Well if there is an "issue" whether it means that there is a problem with the crank or whether there is a better crank, I'm a bit pissed to say the least if not less. If the issue is a problem to be fixed under warranty, then I'm with dazco for the BB kit. If the issue is they have designed a better crank then that is the price we pay for buying the first release model. On my best reckoning I can't see that after all the development Triumph put into this bike that they would redesign such a vital engine component so soon after release of the bike, so I reckon the issue, if there is any, has got to be a problem.

.... or BBs' dealer don't want to sell the one on his floor!? Maybe it's all a sales-plot - making things look good for him by 'moving' more units - thereby getting a better condition?!
Who knows...?

I honestly don't think that there is anything here! Especially NOT an 'issue' (he says with my fingers crossed)

Yup, exactly how much misinformation have we had come out of the mouths of dealers (or from corporate for that matter). This is nothing until we actually get some sort of confirmation from somewhere else at this point.

The fact that we have so many bird owners here with so many miles and not a single issue doesn't exactly support the veracity of this issue.
