Any of your Dealers Hear from BC Re: Pipes?

According to my calendar, we should be hearing soon from BC on the pre-ordered pipes (dyno results, map info, etc.). Any of you guys who've ordered them heard anything yet? My dealer is calling them today to see whatsup.

Yeah I'm a bit surprised myself... Last I heard the pipes were going on the Dyno on Tues. 20th. I figured we would have heard something by now. My guess is they did not like the results from the Dyno or none of the current Triumph maps were sufficient. We may have to wait until the New power commanders are available...

I think you nailed it. i don't think anyone is going to get much benefit from thier pipes till we have the ability to use custom tunes.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions on that one. I get the feeling that they are about as busy as a one legged man at an ass kicking competition over there at BC. There have been a number of periods of radio silence coming out of BC along the way and there was nothing but normal workloads that were the cause.

I'd like to hear something from them but I doubt it means much that we haven't.

In the mean time I am really digging my broken in stock pipes with the TOR tune..thinking of cancelling and saving some coin in this recessionary time.

Thanks Thatch. That's good info. I wondering though what "quite well" means as in "the Triumph tune apparently works quite well ". I'm anxious to see the numbers, errr, better stated, I'm anxious for one of you guys to tell me what the dyno numbers mean...

My order number is high 30s low 40s, so I've got a little wait.

I think "quite well" means we don't want to give you the exact numbers because you WON'T find them quite well. Physical mods generally don't make much or any difference till the tune is optimised to take advantage of them. I think they would prefer to wait till they have a good custom tune to show up. I imagine 1-2 HP with the tors tune and potentially 6-8 with a custom tune for any decently designed pipe. I think the TORs tune is no where near as optimized for the pipes as it could be. The pipes and mods i did to the airbox on my speedmaster didn't give up the goods till i got the jetting right. Then the bike ran like a scalded dog.

My primary concern is that the bike not get damaged by running a marginal tune for the configuration.... is that possible? (sorry if that's a stupid question... ).

I don't know. I wouldn't think so, but my dealer once said it would be likely to hurt the engine if you remove the cat w/o the proper tune. Doesn't seem to make sense to me unless it were to damage the cat itself, which i CAN see. I still say we're all speculating on things that we need to be patient on and wait till there are tunes being made for any of these mods.
