Is first gear limited in some way?

My Bird pulls much harder in second gear than first. The Rockets are limited in the first couple of gears, so I was wondering if the Birds had some kind of throttle limitation to make them safer and easier to handle. If this is the case, I want to defeat it to get better speed off the line.

New T-Bird? I found on a test ride that 2nd gear is really strong compared to first as well.

i doubt it, but the thing with the R3 is not the issue on this bike. It could be something else i suppose. Once tuneboy starts mapping this bike, if there are restrictions i'm sure he will have maps that remove them.

I was testing this theory today and he's my take. I don't think it does pull harder, but i think it may FEEL like it does. First gear is a much shorter gear and i think because theres so much torque, it will wind up thru 2nd just as fast as 1st, but being wider you will end up gaining more speed in the same amount of time. Thats just my take and i may be wrong, but that was my impression. Could also be one of triumph's stupid safety features for inexperienced riders like the R3 butterfly restriction. It is quite possible triumph has other power robbing agendas besides just emissions regs in thier mapping. Thats why it's quite possible we may be able to gain a good bit of power with the tuneboy once wayne gets ahold of a Tbird and starts mapping for it, even with no mods at all. He has tuneboy tunes for the STOCK R3. So obviously he's improving things, not just tuning for a mod.
