Idle on startup

Anyone experienced their bike not idling when you first start it? I can give it a little throttle to keep it going but you should be able to just hit the starter and it should stay running. Happened right at the dealer when I picked it up. They checked it over and said since the battery had been disconnected it had to relearn it's settings. I'm up to 500 miles with no change. It's going in for it's first service tomorrow so I'm sure they will figure it out. Other than that the bike has been awesome. I had a couple drops of coolant initially as mentioned by others but mine hasn't reoccured since so I'm hoping I won't have that issue.

my Bird arrived Friday and am not able to pick it up until tomorrow. The dealer had a big open house celebration and parked my bike on the showroom so they could show it off (with a sold sign on that said "Do not sit on, SOLD") Anyway, I stopped by to see it and they started it up so I could hear it. When they did they had to crank on it for quite some time and then when it first fired off it would not stay running. The second time it fired off normally and then idled a bit rough at first, then settled into an idle.

I suspect you may have a small vacum leak that is causing you bike not to idle. I'm sure they'll find it when you bring it in for service.

Several of us have had the same problem, tho usually not when cold. But mine was like that if i started it hot. I had to blip the throttle or it would die. Got the TORs tune installed and it hasn't done it once since ! And now i'm running the stock pipes again and the tune works even better with them and not only still idles every time but it runs better with the TORs tune with the stock pipes back on ! Someone else here also had the TORs tune loaded and never even had TORs to begin with and he also noted it runs better, tho i never asked him about the idle issue but then he never mentioned having that. So ask your dealer to install that tune. Triumph delivers all thier bike running it a lean condition for the purpose of emissions regs, and the TORs tune apparently helps enrichen it to where it should be.

Ditto to Dazco. I had the problem with the bike not starting without giving some throttle when the engine was HOT. It would start and promptly kill. It was never a problem when cold.

Once I got the TOR's on and the tune, the problem disappeared.

I suspect at the factory theres been a lot of experimentation with tunes. No doubt they probably have dozens they've tried while developing the latest. And i wouldn't be surprised if some bikes were shipped with different tunes than others. This would account for why some people have had this problem and some not, and why the TORs tune fixes it.

Question TORs Tune Versions???

Are their different versions of the TOR tune depending on whether you have a performance air filter in place when the remap is performed? (i.e. K&N or Uni)

No, the bike can adjust for the filter alone. There are only tunes for the addition of the TOR pipes, with or without filter. (of course if you're springing for pipes, why on earth would you not put in a filter?)

Thumbs up TORs and filter....

Thanks! I actually already have a K&N for the bike, but the tune will be applied at the dealer with the TORs installed, and I am 100 miles away so I won't be installing the filter until after they have applied the tune with the stock filter in place... I was assuming the EFI could adjust for the filter after the fact, thanks for the feedback!
