Inspection Decal Plate

Hey guys, I'm getting ready to register my T-Bird here in Virginia and I think I have to get it inspected before registering it. The last thing I want is the guy slapping the decal on my forks. I bought an aftermarket inspection decal plate and trying to figure the best place to put it. Do any of you guys have inspection decal plates, and if so, where did you put yours?

Thanks.

Yea, it's Virginia's way of squeezing more money out of us...

I think I found a place to put it.. the black plate that holds the kickstand has an upward curve section with a hole large enough to pass the right size bolt. I'll give that a try tomorrow. I'll have to put a couple of washers in there to make sure the decal plate doesn't touch the radiator (don't want any vibrations setting up). If I get it installed there, I'll post some pics.

They inspect here in NC as well though luckily this year they dropped the actual sticker. It is now tied to the tag sticker so I slipped by that one. Unfortunately I work on a military base and they have ID stickers. For that I put black electrical tape on the frame and put the sticker onto that. It doesn't stop 'the ugly' but it does stop any damage to the paint if and when I have to take them off.

YOU MUST REGISTER FIRST! When you take it in for inspection they ask for your temporary registration (pink slip) and the vin gets attached to the record as part of your inspection. In PA, the only requirement is that it is on the left side of the bike. I did'nt want it on my fork either so the mechanic put it on the left frame rail next to the radiator. He said thats what the Harley guys do. A inspection sticker plate is removable from one bike to another, therefore, illegal in my police state. Not a good idea!

Thanks guys, especially Rayzor... you saved me some time for sure. I was reading the VA requirements for registration last night and they have some language on their page about inpections and how you must have all vehicles inspected and that the police will fine you if not, yadda, yadda. I pictured myself waiting in long lines only to be sent away to get inspection. Your advice to get it registered first was spot on. Thanks.

This is what I ended up with, but I've got to tell you, I don't like it one little bit. The inspection guy did put the decal on my decal plate, which I mounted on the passenger footpeg bolt. I'm either going to take it off completely and just carry the pink slip (proof of inspection) or turn it around so that nothing but black is showing. I'm leaning toward just taking it off....

Nope!! Don't like it at all...

I looked at the front frame area on the left side of the bike and it looked too crowded to me to place the decal there ...

I'm going to go take if off now ......

@Large - thanks, I'm going to look into mounting it under the tag ... good idea.

Okay ... this will have to do. It keeps the cool side view intact and keeps me legal.

I just ordered the chrome lower forks and I do not want the inspection sticker on the fork leg. I was going to get the inspection plate but after reading your post, that doesnt sound like a good idea. Can you post a pic of what you did? I would like to see how that looks and will probably follow your lead.
