Proof of exhaust poppping from the factory

This link takes you to the special Thunderbird promotional site. The sound clip in the backround is of a T-Bird in the distance being Revvved up and you can hear the popping on deceleration. I know they are perfecting this map, they have to. That's why we cant get the TOR tune yet.........I betcha!

I've heard that before, and the triumph reps acknowledge the popping as a desirable feature in some of the articles ! The tune is out and i have it ! Got it done about 2 weeks ago and posted about it. The bike pops MORE after the tune. I don't know if they will ever try and create a tune that does away with it since they are already on the record as calling it a desirable thing. But they ARE creating new tunes all the time in trying to perfect the bike. Mickey said they will likely have a number of new tunes in the coming weeks. But i wouldn't hold your breath for one that doesn't pop because even if they did want to remove the popping, it's not going to happen w/o removing the AI system which of course they cannot do because it's required by epa regs.

It's Triumph's PTwin identity....
I love it on my Speedmaster.

Like i already explained a couple weeks ago, the USA triumph fleet manager is mickey cohen. he does all triumphs promo bike fro setup to mods to repairs, and he is right near me. he has had the tune forever because he's probably been putting it on the promo bikes that have tors for over a year now. He DOES have the tune and he is the one that loaded it for me. Yes, the dealers for the most part if not ALL do NOT have it. Mickey does. My dealer didn't and actually asked Mickey to do it for me. by the way, it's not that they don't have the tune, they don't have a device needed to unlock the ECU. The tune is available to the dealers right now.

so far, 3 outta 3 dealers don't have it. One who says he does (the forth) has me on hold for 20 mins now, scurrying to find proof of it before i drive 60 miles to get there.....I just hung up after 25 mins.

....the deceleration popping to me and onlookers; make the bike sound out of tune....one of my riding buddies even asked what was wrong with my new bike....my uncle asked "what is that rumble when you slow down" ?????

...to me, it's like riding with the Hells Angels on a scooter....it just isn't right. This is my 7th Triumph and never had this sound......and yes, I do understand this is a big bore 1600cc engine....but so are Harleys, Shadows, Boulivards, Stars, Victory, ect....

sorry to complain and whine but business is slow and have nothing else to do....lol

Well, thats a different point, and it's 100% subjective. But the tune is loaded into my bike, and it pops more. Probably because the tors require a richer mix and therefore the AI has more unburned fuel to deal with. If you want to stop it i would suggest finding a dealer who is willing to remove the AI, but on a injected bike i think there are issues with that and it might require a custom tune. Not sure. But i think it may be that w/o the AI the cat would be ruined. Just a guess as to why, but in any case the way to get rid of the popping is thru getting rid of the AI. Thats what everyone had problems with on the 900 twins....everyone who got pipes and opened up the airways got a lot more popping till they removed the AI. But on carb'd no-cat bikes you don't have to compensate in any way, just remove it.

Thank you!

PS: the device is a USB port adaptor to a multi-pin male connector that attaches to the female on the bike. It connects the computer and programing to the ECU. Triumph has had this device since the introduction of FI bikes. My 02 Speed Triples and Daytons's had the same female connector....go figure..

....WillyT's dealer (and my closest) said when they perfect it, it will be mass emailed to every dealer in the USA. Maybe; although Mickey has it, it wasn't good enough, who knows, waiting sucks donkey d*7%

PS again: I'll do the dam AIS removal AFTER I take it to the dealer as to not void the warrenty. Maybe a cycle repair shop might dive into it but NO dealers is gonna do that....lol

Actually, if you want to get technical, the actual reason for the Tbird's popping....it's the bike laughing at the harley it just left a 1/4 mile behind as it slows back down to normal cruising speed.
