removing bugs and other baked on debris from headers?

Anyone have an good recommendations for removing baked on bugs and other road debris from chrome headers w/o scratching them? (IE: no razors, steel wool, or anything abrasive) I've heard oven cleaner, but will that hurt the chrome at all?

I've had good results with Nevr-Dull from Eagle One. Gets 99% of them off.

Easy-Off Oven Cleaner, works great and won't harm the chrome. This is an old trick I learned about several years ago. Really works, give it a try.

I do it the same as I do my visor - old T shirt soaked in very hot water!

Place (wrap) around chrome - leave 30 minutes (or more), then simply wipe off the crustations.
I then use some soft rag to dry wipe, then apply polish again.

Leave the pork pies for now - get the sausage rolls while they're hot!

i have found very fine wire wool works very well, does not scratch either, you can also use it water or polish to soften it even more

Hydrogen peroxide eats the bug guts without damage to the metal. Cheap and available at your corner drug store.

You need to get one of these sponges. They work fantastic and don't scratch. I use them on my pickup or anything that has bugs caked on the front. I just use soap and water but for something more agressive I use Stoner's (gotta love the name) bug and tar stuff with the sponge.

Mad angler has the ticket. A friend who shows cars turned me on to the fine steel wool (grade 0000) with a little car polish on it. I messed up my pipes while hot with some spray detailer that baked on. Tried everything until the steel wool..They look brand new..

If you guys have tried it, it must work, but I would think it would scratch. I've read that some of the auto guys use brass wool, but they say to stay clear of steel wool.
