Maintenance

While doing my research, (New Bike Time) I found this great site. I am leaning towards the new Thunderbird but can’t find information on maintenance intervals. How often for valve inspection and type of valves etc? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are 4 valves per cylinder with shim/bucket type adjustment and 12,000 mile adjustment intervals. This is the only thing i don't like about the twins including this new 1600. If the 865 twins are any indication, cost will likely vary a lot from dealer to dealer but probably average around $250-300.

But maybe theres a reason for using that setup, i dunno. I wouldn't let it alter my decision, this bike is way too good to even entertain that thought.

Thank you for the reply. At least its every 12,000 rather than the 8,000 I’m doing now. Your right the bike is too good to pass up. I will just have to bite the bullet and have the dealer do that part of the maintenance.
I finally found the scheduled maintenance on Triumph U.K.
Thanks again!

Also you have to realize that in time we will see some of the people here doing thier own valve adjustmenst and some usually post pics and instructions. So we may be able to do it ourselves like we did with the 865's. It may be no harder or if lucky maybe even easier. I'm certainly going to consider it before i take mine in because my dealer is 30 miles away and it had to be left overnite to be completely cool. So i'd have to rent a car to get home then back. So if i can do it myself i will.
