Need Help from an owner please :)
all you lucky owners out their i need an answer to a question, on the LH Clutch leaver it hinges on a bolt/pin, what colour is this pin from the top? oviosly the handle assembly is black but is the bolt/pin also black? also if any one has a closeup pic od it from above i would be most greatfull,
the reason i ask is as some of you are aware i have my accessories but am still waiting for my bike, i now have the whole Chrome leaver and controle assembly but it does not come with a new pin/bolt to hinge the clutch, you have to use the one currently on the bike, i now have a fealing this is a horible black one? but i may be wrong

Yes drammit, it's black ! Now theres another thing to worry about. I already have triumph USA looking into the clamp issue for me. Even tho you said you had to buy one they said no, two should come with it. So it's possible that pin was supposed to be with it along with 2 clamps and you just didn't get them. They as much as said that there may be discrepancies in the initial orders like that till things get straightened out. New model and all that. They are supposed to call me back when they find out about the clamp issue, and at that point i will ask about the pin and let you know. If we're screwed here it looks like the pin could at least be polished out. I've polished steel to a fairly chrome like finish, and stainless (lets hope it is) to a VERY chrome like appearance. So worse case scenario we can do that. But i can't imagine in my wildest dreams they would do this. So i bet your kit was just missing that part. They are just now putting all this stuff together so theres a better than usual chance some kits won't be complete.

Aahhhhh I new you were going to tell me that, they did the same to me on my Speedmaster, I will check with my dealer in the morning on their system to see what should be contained in the kit, I checked with them today and the controles kit is only meant to come with one clamp as that's all that's attached to it, as the other one is part of the master cylinder assemby that should have really come with the chrome cover for that but it's not on the list of supplied parts with it so it's a seperate purchase.
As for the pin I will be calling Triumph monday to have a moan I think

Thing is, the dealer should be about as clueless as we are. Only triumph the company itself would have any idea about such details. Being in the UK you may have a better chance of finding the truth than me because we have no contact phone or email to the UK, only the US offices. And they are just one notch up from the dealers in the food chain as far as knowing these things. I have a hard time imagining how they could do this with that pin ! I mean, you buy all this expensive chrome and for the lack of one small part the looks are cheapened. Makes no sense, and thats why i think maybe your kit should have had one. There could be a million reasons. For example, that part may not have been supplied to them yet and they just figure W T F, lets send them out as is and if anyone complains we can ship them one later when they arrive. I have seen things like that before plenty of times, so i wouldn't put something like that past them.

Over here our dealers have a computer connected to triumph. They can look at any parts or accessories and see what the whole kit containes as well as individual part numbers for each pice included in the kit.
When I had a chrome bolt missing on my footboards for my Speedmaster we checked the part list and it was missing.
Luckly my dealer is open tomorrow so I can check.

Ours have that too, but according to the guys i spoke with at triumph USA, they have more detailed parts files that have detail info the delaers don't have. At least thats basically what he told me. But who knows really. You'd have to see them both yourself because incompetence is rampant today. I asked triumph USA employee at the demo truck why the thruxton had a considerably higher HP spec than the bonnie and he began to tell me about the 360 vs the 270 degree cranks !! I had to explain to HIM that the firing angle has nothing to do with it and that it's probably the cams. He just started at me like homer listening to marge. I honestly believe that only maybe 5% of technical info makes it out of the factory itself into the hands of tiumph headquarters in other countries and dealers. It's amazing what they DON'T know....seriously.

Dazco mate, your not going to like what i have found, if you look at the Chrome leavers on the Triumph Accessories selector it clearly shows the Chrome leavers and switch gear with a black pin, ***? Why would they do this, i wil still confirm but i can see it getting pollished or i mave have a Stainless Steel one made i think.
EDIT,
also just checked my stuff, they dont supply new hex bolts for the clamps either so you have to use the black ones as well, you can also see this from the pic on the chrome controls on the selector as well, it looks like you are meant to use all the original fixings.
will be doing some shopping i think

Yeah, i figured that on the screws. But theres a place around here that has a lot of chrome metric allen head stuff so i think they may have them. I'm sure you can find them online as long as you can get the correct specs for the threads. On the other hand, i don't mind the black screws with chrome parts....for some reason that doesn't bother me much so i don't mind if i can't find chrome. As for the pin, that DOES bother me, so i'll just likely sand the paint off and polish it with metal polish and a dremel. Won't look like chrome unless it's SS, but it'll have to do. Never had any luck getting things chromed because it's so expensive and doing one little part wouldn't be worth it to them unless they charged you a stupid amount, which i know they would. Thats truly pathetic. One stupid little part and they can't even chrome that to make it complete. Geez.....
EDIT: you know, on second thought after looking at that pic on the triumph site, i don't really mind that pin being black. I think i'll be find with that and the screws. But i'll probably have to order the clamp cuz i'm pretty sure you're right about that.
