Cruise Control (home made) works excellent!

This is simply the best cruise control I've ever had and it cost me nottin. I used an old BMW F650 rubber gas tank bumper as a spacer and the o-ring from an old BMW dipstick. It took me 5 mins. to think of the idea and 2 mins to install it. It is so easy to use; just roll on the gas and move the o-ring into the grove....ta da!!!! You can even leave it in place and decelerate and excellerate without untwisting the bar end like other aftermarket designs. I can take my hand off the bars for a good rest. I need it because of a rotator cuff injury on my throttle arm. It works better and easier then a throtlemiester or Kaoko. Joe cool!

I just did the same thing! When I got my America, Dazco or somebody out there said to get an "O" ring and place it between the grips and the housing. I don't know why you used the spacer however, I just trimmed down the ring to fit the gap and it works like that. I used this on the America for 2 years! I think the gap on the TBird is a little smaller so I had to trim down the ring to fit and not be too tight. It works great, just need to be careful.

No, it wasn't me. But guys have been doing that for years. It kinda scares me to be honest, plus for some reason i can hold the throttle for a long time w/o issue.

The spacer allow me to adjust tension and extends the grip a bit. the stock grip seems a little short. There is nothing scary about it. You only use it on the highway and if you need to slow down you can just twist it back like normal. My entire right arm feels like it's going to fall off. It all started in Feburary 2008 with a 2008 Yamaha FJR 1300. I loved the bike but the throttle spring had more tension then me after a long days work. I rode for a half hour and had to stop because of crammping. Some guys cut the sring to lessen the tension but I sold the bike instead....so here I am a year and a half later after surgury, injections, steroids, ect, and still hurting.

That s good idea and is very helpful, myself I'll be installing an electronic cruise control for about $120.00 when all said and done utilizing an Audiovox CCS100 universal c.c.. I've installed one of these on two of my past bikes and there's nothing like having an electronic cruise control that will maintain speed no matter whether your going up or down a moutain or not.

The only caveat is that I will need the Triump wiring diagram for the TBird before I can get it installed. Once I do though I'll pass on the info.
