Problem summary...Now I'm Pissed off!!!
Ok, first: The bike was the missing, popping under the seat, and hesitation. I pulled off the left side cover and found that some schmuck plugged the ECU adaptor onto a metal plate that protrudes in there instead of the square parking space for this computer jack plug. The metal pins on the plug were touching the freaking frame.....No more missing since I ripped it offa there!!!!! but it still pops, ok, I'll live with that.
Second: Nasty coolant kept dripping down on the cases directly behind the cylinders. After seaching like a fool I finally found the cylinder main coolant hose where it connects to the metal elbo smack dam between the throttle bodies. The hose clamps (2) were both loose. I tightened them and so far so good....
Third: The worst.....after 165 miles, I decided to make sure the oil level was cool. Would'nt you know those idiots delivered my $16000.00 motorcycle (w/accessories) with only 2 quarts of oil in it. This really pisses me off. Low oil during break-in is bad. I thought there was freaking mineral oil in there cause I couldn't even see it on the dip stick....and yes nay sayers....I did run the engine, let it sit, set it perfectly upright before I checked, and screwed in the cap to fully seated. I poured a whole quart of red synthetic 15-50 4T in before it even touched the stick. I need to buy another quart tomorrow. I hope my engine hasn't aged to 12000 miles?
Forth: My rear rotor is a tiny bit warped. It rubs on the pads at slow speeds on every rotation. That I don't care about because soon the pads will be broken in and I won't hear or feel it.
Five:Oil was leaking from the front of the motor just below the cylinder (in the middle). It looks like a cam chain tensioner cover with 2 bolts. They needed tightening.
All I can say is everybody examine their bikes well. I can't blaim triumph that the oil is low. I paid $350.00 for the dealer to set it up. I want to call and screem at him that I could have long term damage to my NEW engine.........what should I do? Do I demand 4 quarts of oil and a filter and change it myself because his shop is too inconfident or bite my lip and take it as a lesson learned?

I\'m really sorry you went thru that. This is why i don\'t like dealers touching my bike unless i have no choice. I\'m not going to go too deep into it, but suffice it to say i\'ve been thru the same things you did. Not so many at once tho. I can see why you\'re pissed, and i\'d go to the dealer and tell him what they did. Unfortunatly you no longer have proof they screwed up. but i wouild still go yell at them and tell them you want a new bike or you will plaster thier name all over the web in every triumph forum about what they did.
On a brighter note, my dealer uses the crappiest dino oil he can buy for break in so that the engine can \"wear\" a lot in that 500 miles. With a small amount of oil during break in you may be ok since it didn\'t sieze. Who knows... it may have broken in better for all you know ! But if it were me i\'d do whatever it took to make sure things are right. I\'d first call triumph\'s USA offices and talk to customer service about this and tell them you want to know what to expect in a compression check. Of course don\'t ask the dealer ! then ask them to contact a DIFFERENT dealer and have them set up a CT for your bike and i think they\'ll understand why. Thats what i\'d do anyways, and i can\'t imagine triumph not accommodating you after one of thier dealer did this BS ! I could tell you some stories, but i have reasons not to. Suffice it to say you really have to be completely suspicious any time you let a dealer touch your bike.

Hey Rayzor,
I'm new here and I don't know you guys, but believe me, I'm very sorry to hear your story. I can imagine how you must be feeling, really I'm very sorry and angry.
I think Dazco's suggestion about :
..."But if it were me i\'d do whatever it took to make sure things are right. I\'d first call triumph\'s USA offices and talk to customer service about this"...
is a good one.
My suggestion is, keep your faith up that everything will end up OK, .... I will be hopping the best for you and your bike.

I'm sure you know what you're doing BUT, I had very similar fears when I was checking my bike and the oil is nearly invisible. Only at the very tip of the stick where it pooled a bit could i see it. I had to look VERY closely to see the glistening of the oil on the stick. I had some engine noise that worried me so I checked it and nearly freaked that I'd put 400 miles on a bike with low oil. After I took a bit more time, checked it closely, I could actually see the oil.
I'm not saying that is your situation, just be careful. Perhaps the new oil adds some color in there and you're able to see it clearly, but I know when I first checked it I couldn't see anything.
Best of luck on things.

Thats funny you say that because when i got home from having my 500 service done i checked the oil and the same thing happened. It\'s odd because i have never seen clear motor oil before, but my dealer uses Torco which is an oil i never had any experience with, so i figured that was why. Now i see you saying the same thing and it makes me awful curious because most dealers use what triumph recommends them to, Mobil 1 which isn\'t clear. So this seems very odd. I wonder what they usued in yours that could be clear?

Name the dealer, maybe others of us can avoid him. In these shakey financial times how can a dealer risk providing such shoddy service..

Rayzor
I will call my dealer tomorrow to see what he thinks about the situation. They are located in Manayunk and have treated me extremely well over the past 5 years.

Oil
Too bad you didnt have it documented so JUST in case in the future something should happen, you could go back on what trhey did! They charged you for Mobil 1 & switched you on the service? SSomething wrong w/ that !!

You probably should have taken it back to the dealer or arranged for them to pick it up based on what you found and tell them you wanted them to do the PDI all over again and check the oil in front of you to document that it was truly low. Or at least you should have documented it by taking pictures of the dip stick before and after filling it with oil. Because right now it's your word against theirs if you have problems down the road.
On another note, You may have accelerated break-in with low oil but I doubt it did any serious damage and I bet it will be just fine. I would go ahead and change the oil and put full synthetic in and start riding it like you normally would.

At this point I'm not going to raise cane at the dealer but you can bet when I go there to get my accessories I'm going to tell the owner. It's just not worth the aggrevation to drop off the bike, find a ride, and let some ponk play guessing games on my new expensive toy. My dealer just added the Triumph franchise to their line-up and I don't think the mechanics know any more then I about the brand. The only time I'll take it in is for expensive work under warrenty. I once had a defective dampening rod on the front fork of a BMW recently which required dealer parts and service. Very expensive so worth the trip to the dealer.
Also, you guys, check the front of the motor where the cam chain tensioner looking thingy is. Mine was dribbling oil when I picked it up. The salesman told me to torque the 2 bolts when I got home.........great service advice...lol ( this was added to my first post of problems for everyones reference)
As far as letting them check it over again forget it! Nobody touches my bikes. Thats why I rely on my experience and input from other owners (here). I bought it out of state so I had to get it inspected locally. I never left the bikes side. I watched as the mechanic (my friend) put the inspection sticker on wrong. Now it has bubbles and is coming off. Can't anyone do anything right? Whatever happend to PRIDE!
Thanks for your support. I still love my machine and wouldn't trade it for anything.
