Got a little drizzel on my snizzel!!!

I just wiped down the engine last night because it was still spotted from the dealer fasty prep wash. I take a ride and stop to admire it and look what I found.........antifreeze stains coming from around the throttle bodies somewhere......what the F*#$....
...and yes, I'm sure its coolant. There was a little puddle that did'nt bake on the engine yet and it was green.

Sure it wasn\'t there since delivery and you just missed it when you wiped it down? Mine has some spots too, but there hasn\'t been any leakage. It was from the setup, and are you sure there couldnt have been enough that didn\'t dry up?

I'm sure.....I wiped it down again and took a ride, it dribbled again and I actually wiped off the intake and got it on the rag. I'll sooner fix it myself before go through the hassel of taking it in.

Problem Solved!

Took it to the dealer today and they did'nt want it. Too busy. Screw them, I fixed it myself. Turns out it was the thermostat cover rubber gasket. The gasket was good but there was a metal shaving (THE SIZE IF A DIME) between the gasket and the housing. It took several hours just to get to that dam cover. I'm happy that it is no longer leaking and learned that the dealer sucks even more and that if you want something done, ya gotta do it yourself.

THIS IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHY EVERYONE SHOULD DOUBLE CHECK EVERYTHING AFTER BUYING A NEW BIKE. WHO KNOWS WHAT SURPRISES ARE TO BE FOUND!!!!!!!

Check your oil level, air pressure, coolant level, stering head, belt tension, torque case bolts, check that air filter is seated, check hoses (no exposed nipples), ect.........

I have had dealers leave bolts for the axl and the brake calipers totally loose when setting up the bike for delivery on two occasions ! The caliper's top bolt fell out a day or so after delivery and the caliper fell down away from the disc while riding. The other time the front axl bolts were completely loose ! I'm telling you, i think NO dealer can be trusted whether they know a lot or not. The mechanic with the best knowledge of engines on earth is no less likely to forget to tighten something than one who knows little. And they just don't care enough because it's a job to them and if your bike leaks they still get paid to fix it whether it was thier fault or not. And if you die because the wheel falls off at 80 MPH, they'll still be alive. They just don't GAF.

Trust no one.

The best way to check everything is to spend a 1/2 day detailing the bike. When you're wiping the white paint off the bolts, check them for tightness and a good detail will take you accross every bolt on the bike. Also, check fluid levels. Theres no feeling like the piece of mind you have knowing that YOU went over the bike and not some hourly employee....On my bike though, the dealer is not to blame for the coolant leakage; it's the fault of the guy who mounted the thermostat on the assembly line. He should have inspected the thermo housing and wiped it off before bolting it on. I am not exaggerating when I say this metal shaving was the size of a wood chip from a very sharp chain saw. Good thing it wasn't in the gear cases.

Incredible!
Sorry that you experienced it - I suppose it's one of those 1 in a Million chances.
