New Bird, 80 miles, fuel problems, I think!

It was about 85 degrees today and very little humidity. At first the bike popped on deceloration and I figured the bike was lean as in most bikes right out of the box. Then it was loading up on aceleration in 1st and 2nd gear, throughout 1/4 throttle. When twisting the throttle somewhat agressively, it will miss and sputter and pop. It's very anoying and I havn't called the dealer yet who I'm sure won't have a clue without me schlepping the bike in. Anyone have a similar problem? I don't expect the fuel injection to be flawless but this is way off.

Yeah, thats not right, tho popping on decel is normal. Mine does it and a triumph rep in a review said they do that. Some people like it. But the missing is obviously not right. It\'s probably a simple adjustment. I know thats a pain tho, especially if they need to keep it for any length of time.

Maybe I'll just live with it until my pipes come in, that way there will be no time wasted because they gotta remap on pipe installation. Have you heard whether the performance air filter is manditory with the performance pipes? I forgot to order it and didn't feel it necessary. Like I said, I don't think the dealer even knows whats up yet. I'll have to call technical assistance in GA tomorrow. Maybe they have several map tweaks (with and without), maybe they don't have anything yet. I read that they were still working on the BB kit mapping (but that is old news).....

My dealer is going to install a K&N filter because there is one that fits the Tbird. I guess it was made for another triumph, but triumph designed the Tbird to use an existing triumph filter, and so theres already a K&N we can use. And it\'s 1/2 the cost. The triumph one i think is $85 USD and the K&N my dealer will be selling to me for $40 i think he said. Triumph\'s filter is a total rip-off....never heard of any filter going for more than 1/2 of what triumph is charging.
No matter where you are you can call them and order from them or ask what filter it is and order wherever. It\'s south bay triumph in lomita ca. As for mapping, i got several answers that didn\'t make much sense. No one seems to really know, but thats just one of the problems with buying a new model. we may have to wait a bit.

I could be wrong, but the symptoms you describe sound similar to, but not as severe as those described by BirdBrayne. His dealer "reset" the MAP sensor. I wonder if resetting the MAP sensor is something we can do in our own garages, or if it takes proprietary equipment/tools.

Rayzor - I concur that some popping on decelleration is normal (or at least it happens on my bike as well), but accelleration has been been flawless for me (hot or cold - outside temp, or the bike).

I'd take it in.

Yeah, I guess I will (in time). The dealer is 1 hour away. I'll wait till the pipes come in. It ran a little better today because it wasn't as hot. Except now it's dibbleing a little antifreeze. Not to worry, I'm not complaining. I love the bike.

Just little setup niggles i\'m sure. Probably due to dealer incompetence. Most of them seem to have a hard time doing anything right from what i\'ve seen. They can usually fix thier screwups to luckily.

Well, we ARE the first adopters and we knew going in things might take a bit to get perfect and we may be in for a few recalls. But so far i think it's doing pretty good. One person is really all thats having any issues, and i believe it's nothing to worry about. Mine is at over 1000 miles now and it runs like a top.....a really quick top.
