I'm not sure if you'll even see this reply or not, but OMG I LOVE what you did to the paint on your Bird.
I just picked up a blue 2012 bird and want to get her painted. I also have (but have to sell) a 2010 black and white scalloped painted bonny. I LOVE that paint scheme with the gold pin stripe. I wanted to do something reminiscent of the old school Triumph, but not take away from the "newness" and massive size and sporyness of the Bird.
Ironically I lost a side panel on the ride home and Triumph is telling me to pound sand, even though their grommet failed. I didn't want to spend the money on their $250USD side panel, so was going to go on the cheap and buy the chrome pair of them from British Customs and have them painted.......but maybe not now.
That paint scheme is exquisite!!!!! It's the best of both worlds combining the classic Triumph look, while maintaining it's monsterousness!!!!!
I wasn't thrilled with the Triumph logo on the tank, so bought a Bonneville "eyebrow" Triumph badge for both sides. I'm also (if I decide to put the "Thunderbird logo) on the panels, going to subtly change the word from Thunderbird to Thudderbird.
Thank God you're in Aus, because I may have to use your paint scheme as inspiration. I'm also having someone rebuild my (crap) stock seat, so it's a little more comfy. I had an Airhawk for a week, and it was pretty comfy, but DAMN, it's ugly. ;)
Anyway, thanks for the photos, it's amazing.

First weekend with my new bird ;-)

Well what can i say!!

Picked up my new T'bird yesterday at 4.00 and rode it home. It absolutely pi55ed it down. This was the first time riding a T'bird (i didn't take one for a test ride before buying) and what with a new bike, slippery new tyres, all that rain and mud on the road i was a little nervous to say the least.

Absolutely love it!! What an amazing bike Took the long way home and arrived back drenched, freezing cold and with a huge grin on my face. Short shifting through the gears and riding that torque is so exhilarating and the sound from the big bore and TORs... well, bloody marvellous

Not sure i am going to find time to fit the accessories this weekend. It's dry and the open road is calling.

FMOB... what a great bike.

My new Thunderbird 1700 in gorgeous phantom red haze.

Having bought one of the first 1600's off the production line last year - and being disappointed with it - I was eager to get rid and wait for the 1700 to arrive once I heard it was being planned. Even though the 1700 is only 100cc more than the 1600, there is a huge difference in delivery. No longer do you feel you need to change up through the gears quickly, likewise, with the after market exhaust and air filter, the engine produces a much deeper sound that is pleasing to the ear. I think the key difference in delivery is that peak torque moves from 2750 to 3000 rpm and whereas with the 1600, the torque steadily falls off from around 2800, the 1700 manages to hold on to some of that torque until around 3500 rpm before steadily falling off.

I am really impressed with the bike. I had already told the dealer that if my heart wasn't won with this model, I was going for a Roadster - fortunately, that isn't going to happen :)

Upgraded to T-bird!

Well guys, I wanted a T-bird originally, but ended up getting an 09 America instead. Don't get me wrong, I love the bike, but when I saw the new 1700s I had to get one. I called my dealer to see if they had any in stock and they didn't, but was told "what I DO have is two Phantom Blue Haze bikes and I'll install the big bore kit for you at the same price as the T-bird 1700 with Phantom Red Haze." I couldn't pass it up so I got the loan and did the deed. I'm in Afghanistan and won't be back in the States for another few months so I decided to have my guys do some customizations for me while they're at it. I ordered BC Hog Slayer's in black, classic rider footboards, long haul dual seat, dresser bar, and highway pegs. They're also gonna do a custom powder-coating for me too. I'm not exactly sure what we'll be able to coat at this point, but they're sending me a list. We're going to match the black paint on the engine to black out the front fork lowers, mirrors, headlamp, turn signals, heat shields, bag mounts, shock springs, primary cover, and belt cover. I think it's gonna look awesome. I'll post pics as I get them. It's gonna be a long few months! Here she is fresh out of the crate!
Now I have to part with my poor America. I hate to do it, but I don't need three bikes. She still has a one year warranty and around 2000 miles so it should be pretty easy to find a buyer.

The new bird comes home after dark after a long ride home from the dealer. Shorties, floorboards, heel toe shifter, roadster screen, touring seat. Chrome swingarm covers and removable backrest coming soon.
I think the chrome swingarm covers should be a requirement w. short TORs.:p

Mine is as done as I think It's going to be for a while:

New accessories added

Accessories finally arrived, added the chrome pulley, chrome swingarm covers, removeable backrest, passenger boards, 98ci clutch cover. Phone camera didn't do a great job with the photos.

Already had the removeable windshield, shorty tors, rider boards, touring seat, heel-toe shifter.

Done for now, unless I decide to get the chrome lower belt cover or ...
