Okay I looked over previous topics and did not find anything on headlight upgrades. The one knock I have for my 12 Tbird is the headlight. The size and the anemic bulb in it. I put a PIAA super bright bulb in and it's better but I want something more akin to a Daymaker LED type. I do not like the small round headlight. I like the look of the big round lights on the Thrux and Bonnie much better.
Has anyone done any type of headlight conversion? I've looked at the HID plug in types but that does not solve the small headlight issue..... yes I have headlight envy ? Billy
I've done the Day Maker LED upgrade. I initially did the PIAA bulb too.. and it was better than the stock bulb.. but this year I decided to try a LED and chose one on Amazon. It had good reviews. It fits perfectly and it works amazingly. Way better than the PIAA. The only slight mod I had to do is to bend a small metal tab out of the way inside the headlight ring. It was easy and I did it with my fingers. It can easily be bent back if you ever wanna put it back to a regular bulb again.
I used the same ones for my Storm in black. Let me tell you when both of them are on you definitely do not need to worry about seeing the road or being seen. These things are bright and very nice. Was a very quick swap out too. I've been very pleased with them.
Thanks for the information guys. I will look at the daymaker and also look at the light from the America. What I want is one of those Baja 1000 enduro headlights! The one off the Thrux would be good too but I don't think any cross breeding is allowed.
Woo Hoo!! I put in that light Joey suggested. I think my light problem is solved. Took ten minutes to put it in including vertical adjustment of the beam!! Thanks Joey.
I just installed this and pretty much went right in. Make sure you install the little holder clips the right way. I put mine in upside down the first time (I didn't pay attention to which way they were originally installed) and the light was a little loose. It slipped out and scratched the plastic lens a little while I was attempting to screw it back into place.
Seems better (duh) with the clips in the correct way. Anyone have issues this thing moving around on them? While it fits well, it doesn't seem quite as secure as the stock lens.
At the Twisted Throttle booth at Americade last week, they had their Denali LED headlamps (both sizes) on display and turned on. I stopped to look and noticed there was a fair amount of condensation in both of them! A salesman came over and I pointed it out to him. First he said it was because they weren't in motion so the vents weren't getting any air. I pointed out that they were completely sealed; there were no vents. He stammered a little and said they'd clear up. As I stood an aisle away, I heard him tell one of the other salesmen to turn off the headlights to try to get rid of the condensation (or make it less obvious)
Pretty sad and the Denali line has a decent reputation. :frown2:
My neighbor has an Indian Scout and is on his second daymaker-style unit. Both developed condensation. The headlamp manufacuturer replaced the first one but the second unit did the same thing.
Good to hear that several of you have not experienced this. I think if the part in question was going to create condensation, it would happen within the first month of use.

That's going to depend on whether the moisture was sealed inside during the manufacturing process or leaks in over time and the temperature and humidity where you live. Don't think you can put a time on that.
Mine went right in after moving that metal tab in the ring. I put the four spring clips back in and the headlight is nice and tight. I'm still working on getting the beam adjusted just right using the adjustment bolts but I think I have a winner.
Hi all, just found this thread and the light looks great. Will it work with the 2014 Thunderbird LT? I think it's the same headlight unit as on the other T-Birds?
Sounds like it's pretty easy to install, so even though I've been satisfied with the standard lamp, this would be a good upgrade.... and just when I thought i was done upgrading!
I have the motolights led installed in my 2011 Tbird. In for 3 or 4 months through rain and cold Australian morning riding with no condensation issues.
Anyone have the JW Speaker 8690M. The fixed light not the adaptive. Pacific Coast Cruiser has them on sale for $349.95.
Revzilla will price match and I have some revzilla cash so that is where I will get it. They also have the adaptive on sale for $569.95
I've installed LED headlight bulbs on my T-bird one side condensation build up, I thought I was the only one having this problem. I got my LED bulbs from DDM tuning in north San Diego used there products in the past and currently on both my cars and my RVS4 RF and T-bird.
