Suspension Upgrade.. Wilbers..

Hey all. I'm looking for opinions. I'm upgrading my suspension and I've decided to go with Wilbers. I'm torn between the "blue line" and "black line". Also.. they'll mix and match since the shocks are custom made. Basically.. its just the spring color (black or blue).. and the dial color (silver or red). Obviously the blue springs won't be an identical match to the color of my bike.. but will it still look ok? My Tbird is blue/white. What are all of your opinions???

The black is my personal opinion.

I put the ecoline classic series on my Bonneville, in black. Really changed the ride for the better.
You can specify to have the springs done a different colour too. I recently had a Wilber's shock gone in Ohlins yellow for my Ducati Monster.

Jeez, and I thought I spent $$ on the Bird. ;-)

Great shocks I hear. Personal opinion, if the blue is close, I'd look that way. But too far off (like, pastel etc) go black.

Good luck & looking forward to your feedback on them. I have the stockers & do wonder if a better setup would be easier on my aching back.

I'm leaning toward the blue springs. My bird is really running top notch since doing the BB.. Airbox kit.. and PC5 and dyno. Also.. its paid for. With a baby due in a few weeks.. I won't be looking at anything new for quite a while.. so I might as well go all the way with my bird. I've heard the Wilber's are top notch.. and I'm excited to experience them on the Bird.

Placed my order today. As much as I wanted to order the blue spring.. I went with black. My reason is that the black spring is probably a safer bet. The blue "might" look amazing.. or.. if the shade of blue is not a close match to the bike.. it "might" look cheesy. I looked at a dozen pics of the blue shocks.. and in every photo the color looked slightly different. I just didn't wanna risk it.

Anyway.. I'll leave a thorough review after I've logged some miles. I should receive them in about 3 weeks. So they should arrive around the same time as my little guy who is due in 3 weeks also.

Congrats man, for your little one and for your new purchase. I just got a 2015 Nightstorm and looking to upgrade the rear suspension to the Wilbers you just ordered. Very curious to hear how you like the ride after you install them. I am hoping they do a much better job damping out bumps and potholes.

Yes I have. Went to Laconia Bike Week. It's about 130 miles each way.. plus I did about 300 miles of nice twisty riding while I was there. I was loaded with luggage and a passenger for the trip.. and passenger only while we were there riding.

The suspension was set up pretty good right out of the box. I experimented with a few changes of the dial.. and it's pretty easy to get it "just right".

Major upgrade over stock. I wonder if I would've gotten the same performance from the Hagon Nitros.. but having discussed things in length with the Wilber distributor.. I don't think I would've been happy with the Hagons. Regardless.. the Wilber's are so good.. that I feel they are worth the $.

Build quality is superb. I've hit some pretty hard bumps in the road with zero bottoming out (unlike the stockers). Cornering it very tight. The bike just holds better in corners. No bouncy "unsure" feeling when hitting a rough spot in the road while in a twisty. It can be adjusted for a tighter feel.. or nice a cushy if that's what you want.

If you're on the fence.. don't be. I highly recommend. This is my first time ever upgrading suspension on any bike. Had I realized how awesome the improvement would be.. I surely would've done it long ago.
