How can I tell if the 2010 Thunderbird I bought this weekend has a big bore kit on it?
The previous owner dumped a ton on after market upgrades, but the dealer didn't have any documentation about them. I'm interested in the BB kit, but want to know if the bike has one first.
The BB Kit comes with an embellisher cover - IF chosen to be put on, you'd potentially have "104 ci" on the side. Most obvious indicator, BUT not conclusive as you can also buy the cover separately.
Otherwise, it's all internals. Without documentation I would suspect only way without pulling the covers & locating a cam part number is to Dyno & look for 1700cc vs 1600cc power & tq numbers.
go to the dealer and demo a storm, you should be able to feel the difference between that bike and yours and if you can't tell the difference either your bike has it or getting it would be a waste for you.
When I checked 12m ago the cams for BB kit, storm, lt & commander had the same part number. It might have changed since then I guess.
