I have a 12 1600 Thunderbird. Great sale today on SHorty TORS for Cyber Monday. I also have the Triumph saddlebags. I want to put these pipes on, but worried about how they will look with the bags, and also if the shorter pipes will put more heat underneath the bags. Any feedback from those setup that way (pictures would be great) and your experience?

Thanks!

Here's a look at some hard street sixers with shorty TORS. The second shot has a friend's t-bird with long TORS and the same bag for comparison. If I had to pick I would say the longer pipes look better - but only when the bags are on and its not a huge difference either way. Agree that heat will not be a problem.

i have the shortys too and contemplated saddlebags. decided against them. wasn't too crazy about the look. it looks ok but I agree the longer TORs are best. Also, the side bags required permanent attachments, whether saddle support frames or a set of longer bolts (ie easy brackets) that remain on if you take them off. (btw, easy brackets are the way to go for saddle bags, look into them..)

i have the quick release sissybar w/rack so i opted for a a large trunk bag that I can attach to it on days i am planning a longer trip with passenger.

Yes, seems like a trade off. I like the look of the longer pipes, but have heard about sound and performance benefits of the shorts. Already have the Triumph bags, QR, sissy bar and luggage rack. I am not one who likes to run without the bags. Might just decat it and see how that sounds and performs with stock pipes.

If you're looking to increase sound, you can do it cheaply with elbows in lieu of cat, and keep the stock mufflers and tune. I've done that and love the sound.

Yes, it is USA. And no we don't grow potatoes. Actually really nice riding here along the Mississippi and we are on the border with both Wisconsin and Illinois. Wisconsin especially is very pretty and very nicely maintained roads.

Just put in the order for the brackets and elbows! Good January project. Thanks Mike!

Another happy customer with the JBQ brackets and the elbows. Everything went pretty smooth except for my rookie mistake of having one of the elbows backwards. No harm done, but if you put one in backwards it changes the muffler angle a bit, and you don't realize you have a problem until you can't get the heat shield back on the stock pipe properly. Had to unbolt things and reinstall correctly, then everything fit like a charm. Bob was great in responding as we figured out the issue, and I can vouch for the product and the service. Bike sounds great, will try stock tune for awhile and then may try the Tors tune once the air filter is changed out. Cut some weight from the bike and have a great new sound.

If you are thinking of the elbows, they are free this month with the JBQ brackets, which belong on the TBird anyway. Save $40 and be able to raise the bike easily, sounds like the thing to do! If you don't want the elbows, he is discounting the price of the brackets.
