I'm looking at a few Thunderbirds, unfortunately they're not that close, I'll have to have it shipped. I have ridden a Commander and a Storm. Is there a considerable difference between the 1600 and 1700? I've found a 1700 w 20000 miles with windshield, backrest, seat, but stock exhaust. Also a 1600 with Hogslayers, bags and seats, 16000 miles for about the same price. Is mileage a big deal on these bikes?
Thansk!

Well, apples to apples a 1700 will be more pulse-quickening than a 1600, but it's not a night-and-day difference, contrary to what some may suggest. I guess my more immediate puzzlement is why someone would buy a bike with 20K or 16K miles when there are older-model leftovers out there with O miles and full warranty, and are probably around the same price, given the prices at which dealers are blowing them out.

The 1600 Tbird has gobs of power so I don't think that should be an issue. To me it all boils down to which you like better, single headlight Vs. dual, and exhaust pipes. With the end of season new prices I would definitely buy new, as you'll also get several thousand for accessories plus a bonus $500 if you're a veteran. To me, that's a no brainer! Happy hunting!!!! :wink2:

I've got a 1600 and it's got plenty of power, however, I've also ridden a Storm back to back with my 1600. The power gain is pretty substantial in my opinion. If I were doing it again, I'd prob go for the 1700 right out of the gate. If you do go with the 1600, my advice is not to ride it with the 1700 back to back. You can't miss what you don't have. Lol.

If you're telling us you can get a NEW (left over) 1700 Tbird for $7500, you better jump on it asap and stop wasting your time debating on this forum. Sorry for sounding like a jerk, but I'm calling BS. There's no way in hell your getting a brand new Tbird 1600 or 1700 for $7500. That's less then an America and Soeedmaster.

Again, I'm calling BS!

Don't get Joey riled up with a claim of $7500...he was already antsy over my claim that you could get a leftover for $8500. ;-)

I test rode a used 2013 rocket a few weeks ago at the local victory/Indian dealer. It old had 230 miles on it. The owner told me that the guy bought the rocket and after a few rides he realized it wasn't the right fit for him. He traded it for an Indian. Interestingly.. other then the power.. I didn't like the rocket either.

The only reason one would pick a leftover 1600 ("leftover" since they're no longer offered in the States) over the Storm is a preference for chrome and/or color over the blacked-out styling of the Storm that's very much in vogue now. Other than chrome vs. blacked-out, colored paint vs. black, and handlebar ergonomics, they are identical, save for that 100 cc difference. For me, I don't care for the blacked-out-engine look nor even, for matter, black paint, so I would (and did) default to the 1600, even though it's 100 ccs less. If you like the blacked-out look and black paint (or those types of things don't matter to you either way), then the Storm is the obvious choice.

Go with the color you like or the best deal you can get, I'VE GOT 3 BIKES 650 V STROM , ROCKET thats been tickled and is FAAAST , and a 2015 low rider , ALL THREE have enough power the r3 0-140 is the quickest then the harley then the v strom , ,, 80 -140 same result , but your not talking minuites only seconds behind each other ,, and the 1600 t bird that i used to own would off only just been in front of the harley and not by much , with the r3 always being in front .

But thats based on straight line, look at me, look at me, riding , where it does'nt matter , When i get in the real tight twisty stuff , and want to start giving it **** , guess what , the v strom is the fastest , sure in between bends the r3 , the t bird and the harley have more oomph , but you can hit them bends a lot faster on the v strom .

Don't even think about a measly 100cc both bikes are comparable and its only a twist of the wrist seperating them , An average rider will not be able to take any of these bikes to there limits , i push them bikes to the limit of MY OWN riding talent and its each bike to its own merits ,, Believe me unless your name is Mick Doohan you probably will not be able to push any of them to there limits , so go with the best deal or the color you prefer .

I bought my '13 Storm as a holdover in June 2014 and have a lil under 5k on it. Incredible torque for starts at the light or passing at speed. Beautiful bike. Conversation starter almost everywhere I go.

Ready to sell because I want flickable. Retail is around $10k. That's laughable because of the new holdovers . I'm entertaining offers.

I am deciding between the blue, or a Storm, later to get a midnight blue with lightning paint job. Not sure about the twin lights yet. I don't race much, won't be pressing it to the limit in the curves, but like the handling and love the torque. I'm sure the 1600 would be fine though. One with pipes and a few accessories I want would be nice too.

Has anyone had or ridden a Warrior? I want at least that much power or more.

My dealer doesn't have any leftovers unfortunately.
