Has anyone else got problems with the finish on the wheels?

Last week I got caught out in the rain, probably salted, put it away thinking I would clean in at the weekend, but three days later noticed the wheels were badly marked and the marks will not polish out... did some research and it seems others have had this problem...

what shocks me is the speed with which this happened, and how very hard it is to try to get these marks off...

any suggestions on good products/methods to shine up these beauties again? it's driving me mad.

I have the same problem with my wheel finish, grayish - black spots. All the cleaners I tried did not do a great job, and I think Autosol and buffing compound with power tools is next. Just cann't belive the finish just went south like that.

Salt is your enemy. My guess is that chrome or powder coat are the only barriers that work.

Yup, same problem here. I was washing the bike now the other day with my father-in-law (he rides a Honda VTX 1800 series) and he's seen it before, according to his experience, there's no real good product out there to solve the problem, the search continues....

Update: Just looked at the threadlink from Stratofaster - it was helpful, thanks! I will try some of those options.

Same thing here, 6800 miles, always garaged & clean & the wheels look like crap. Nothing I've tried works. Triumph's way of getting you to pony up for chrome wheels .......?

I use solvol on the Rocket wheels after a good clean, no issues after 3 years. Salt needs to be washed off straight away.
