I agree it's a decent deal, esp. w/abs, decent tires, and the 12K service. Get a receipt for the service. The NADA low retail for a 2010 w/abs brakes and TORs is $8400. The question of finding a better deal is academic if there isn't one in your area. How long do you want to wait and look given that you've seen a bike you like, in good shape, and at a reasonable price? A difference of $500 when it comes to bikes like this is chump change. Can you test drive it? Do you like the dealer? Do they do good work? Are you planning on buying some accessories like a screen? Maybe you can get a deal on those.

I think you should go for it. I just bought a brand new Tbird for considerably more than that because there were no used ones in the area. Very happy with it and pleased that it was new. However, if they had a used one at that price I would have bought it instead.

i should have added that my budget is extremely limited and going for this tbird leaves me with no wiggle room if something else goes wrong. despite my love of this bike already, i may have to buy something more in my realistic price range. i might go for the 2011 speedie he's got there instead.

I bought a 2011 Speedy last year. It was a fun bike.. and I enjoyed it a lot. However, I traded it for the T-bird just one year after I bought it. As much as I enjoyed the Speedy.. it just wasn't enough for me. The T-bird is simply awesome!

That story has been told many times. Same for me after one year with an America.

Ditto for me, had the America for one year. Since owning the TBird have never regretted it for a second. Having owned several bikes over the years the TBird is by far my favorite...

I agree, if you get the speedy and end up trading next year or so the bird will end up costing you more.

Wait long enough and this will be academic when someone else rides that 'Bird off the lot. Offer the guy $8,500 and see if he bites. Even if he doesn't, how much does the extra $500 cost per month over the term of the loan? Ten or twelve bucks?
It just doesn't make sense to worry about this and loose an opportunity if you really want the bike. As a good friend of mine once advised (when I was agonizing over buying my first boat) ... you're dead a long time ...

+1 on that. Your only decision is whether you want the 2010 or go a bit further into debt for a new one.
