I've had it up to 105 but didn't have the stones to go further on the country road. I'm sure it'll be fun comparing in the spring once I figure out a windscreen.

Used to be able to get it up to 120 indicated... since I went to the Avon Cobra tire which is a 200/55R17 vs the normal 200/50R17, I haven't been able to do that. I can get it to 110 and that is about it. This is on a stock 1600 with none of those fancy after-market pipes or other tunings.

I had my 1600 with Short Tors up to 100mph but it seems pretty gutless after 95 MPH so I did not keep it on to see how much further it would of went.

Even if they get up to 115 mph I am sure they are looking for a down wind and slight decline on the road. lol... After 100 I am sure the T-Birds are all pretty gutless. Just like the Harley's and Victories.

You want to go fast and 120 +, your on the wrong bike. You could spend 40% less and go 60% faster if you want too.

But Zero to 90 mph is pretty impressive.

That is with the mid screen, I know the post is with no screen. And I am sure that is why I feel the lack of power over 95mph.

Wells you put the bigger tire on your bike 55 vs 50 percent of 200 mm. You are going to show less MPH then the 50 size, It is going to register 10% MPH less.

So I would say your going the same but be aware when speeding by cops.

Oh, I know that. I knew that going in for the bigger radius tire. Actually, the larger tire does great strides towards correcting the speedometer indication to showing your true speed in the first place, and all in all I have been very happy with the Avon so far... it seems to be lasting a lot longer than the Metzeler's ever did.

I currently have about 5500 miles on the rear, and it barely looks broken in! There is word that at a certain point the Avon will suddenly take a nose-dive and wear out very quickly once about 50% of the tread is gone, but I have yet to see that situation occur.

I've gone 115 (185Km/h) on my stock Storm without windshield a couple of times for the thrill of it. At that speed, it's still accelerating but my helmet shakes so much that I can't see. I don't really enjoy going that fast (chicken) but I'll do it at least once again post-screen installation, to see how fast it goes all out.

Isn't there a stretch of road in Texas that the speed limit was just raised to 85 this year?

You now have permission to go faster than 75.
