Just bought a 11 Storm
This is going to be my third Triumph. My current ride is a 09 Sprint which will be traded in next week for the Storm. My first was a 03 tt600.
This will be my first cruiser. I rode a Harley in Alaska in June and loved the cruiser ride. My wife loved the back of the bike as she does not ride herself.
Recently, we went for a ride on the Sprint for a few hours and she did not like it. And some old injuries from a race bike crash keeps coming back.
So, I took the Thunderbird out of a ride and love it. It is a heavier bike compared to what I have ridden but I can get use to that.
It came down to a Harley Fat Bob or the Storm. I was leaning towards the Harley because of dealer support, part supply and resale ten years done the road. But I would have to get a used FB, while the old stock Storm was cheaper then any Fat Bob around. And I never had any major issues with my Triumphs.
I get it a week from tomorrow. It is Toronto which is 4 hours away.
Well, is there anything to look out for on these bikes beside cracking the throttle open.

Yes.....a sore jaw. Try to take a break from smiling every 15 minutes or so for a couple minutes tho and you should be ok.

Awesome. Congrats!
The Fat Bob is probably my favorite HD, but it's still a HD, and everybody and their brother has a HD. Plus you have to sink a lot more coin into the FB to get anywhere near the performance of the Storm, or even the stock T-bird, for that matter.
Two things to look out for when you crack the throttle: permanent toothy grin and possible dislocated shoulders.
Good luck, and enjoy!

Congrats on the choice. I am biased as have that bike. Think the fat bob is a cool bike. However despite living I the home of Harley I grew up 3 miles from the Hinckley Triumph factory.
Enjoy.

Congratulations, just got one a couple months ago myself and love it.
My buddy bought a brand new Fat Bob a couple years ago. He ended up having starting issues with it and HD had the bike off and on for a year or so trying to fix it. They never could get it resolved, and they wouldn't make it right, so he ended up having to sue them. Granted, it was the dealership not making it right, and when corporate was notified of a potential lawsuit they instructed the dealership to buy the bike back at full price, which they did last month.
I was down there visiting him last weekend and he rode my Storm. Needless to say, he's going to look at Thunderbirds this weekend. He said my Storm was way quicker than his Fat Bob, even though he had spent thousands on pipes, breathers, tunes, etc.
There are some things about his HD that I liked better than on my Triumph. The paint, chrome, alarm/keyless, hidden cables, etc. The overall finish seems a little higher quality, but that comes at a price. Also, there are other things I like a lot better about my Triumph....which is why in the end, I went with the bird. He liked his Fat Bob a lot when it worked, but he told me he can't stand the thought of giving HD any more of his money after the way he was treated, so he's going to look at Triumph.
Anyway, that was a long story...bottom line, I think you made a good choice, and you're gonna love the bike.
Andy

Exactly. Thats the one thing HD has over everyone else, but it's also one of the reasons if not the main one that they are more expensive than most others. I've long said that if triumph would make a version of any triumph i own with the finish quality of HD, i'm in even at a much higher price. That said however, that kind of finish quality is NOT on all harleys, mostly the higher end ones. But those in the Tbird's range or less aren't so gem like. Sportsters even less. The small sportster's finish quality looks like a low end jap bike unless that has changed in the last few years since i noticed that. But at the price thats to be expected.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I know I will like the Storm and as I said before this will be my third Triumph and never had a problem.
I am glad I am not getting a Fat Bob. The Harley name never came into play when considering the FB. Just the bike and dealer network.
Well, I got a call today from the dealer in Toronto was told Triumph was giving $1500 in stuff to sell off the 2011. I spent that in a matter of minutes and ordered stuff for my Storm. Plus,.I bought the floor model that comes with a Dart screen.
A week from tomorrow, it comes. Yes, I had to move the pickup date as the sale guy found a buyer for my Sprint Corbin seat and TOR can. So, my wife will be driving the car down.
