Quarter mile and top speed

I just got a new t-bird 1600 with the shorty TOR's and still breaking her in. I was trying to find performance numbers and found one site that claimed a top speed of 115mph on the stock 1600, that seemed kinda slow considering how strong she pulls. Anyone got some real world numbers to share on a stock 1600, 1700 or with mods? Quarter mile and top speed or whatever you got. Thanks.

I've got both a Bonneville and a Tbird, good job I'm a Gemini, means I can cope with the sudden personality changes. Being from the UK originally I can agree that the bonnie is probably a better bike over there. The roads were specifically designed for them (after they kicked the Romans out for building straight roads). Living in Canada I can say the Tbird is a far better long distance bike and yes, I like to pose for all the Hardly riders who ask to take a picture. The bonnie is a great bike wherever you ride it although I have to say, I don't take it out as much since I've had the Tbird. For a Cruiser it's a pretty versatile street bike and really defies typecasting.

I think we should write to John Bloor and ask him to offer two for one deals where you buy a Tbird and get a bonnie to boot, you'd still have change from the cost of a Harley.

Gotta go and pump up my belly and straighten my tassles.:D

What a strange thread .

Do we or do we not all ride motorbikes or what?

Rubber side down "EVERYONE" :D

Oh the picture with the staberlisers makes me chuckle too very funny

Ive just read a couple of the posts to see what all the fuss is about .

Lake , I came to biking late in my early 40's and I guess your comment about rich posing riders is aimed at me. Ok so I have some disposable income , hell I should have or my 27 years in work doing what I do would be a complete waste of life tbh.

Anyway that is irrelevant to the point I am going to try to make here . I started my bike riding 3 years ago on a Kawasaki VN900 . I loved the look of the cruiser and never really wanted to hack a corner with my knee down. I enjoyed the process so much that now I part time teach CBT's and will be picking my instructors licence up in September.

I saw the advert in 2009 for the coming TBird and my dream was complete . I am English , I saw the Bird and thought, "now there is a bike I can proudly ride on our roads over here its a Triumph ".

Its my kinda bike and I feel good on it so I guess Im a poser but I am equally sure the blokes and indeed some girls who pass their test who come to show me their bikes feel equally good on their Fireblades Ducti's and Hayabusa's . I can tell you they pose when they come back to say "Hi". And why the hell not its fun and also fun to take the Mick out of them as they do me.

I ride quite hard for a cruiser rider and I enjoy riding any time of the year hopefully not only at w/e but when I can. I intend to semi retire soon at the ripe old age of 47 to do instructing a few days a week and I shall still have my TBird and be proud of it. I dont have a tasselled jacket, I have Wolf Gear and a full face helmet. Oh I have an open face for when its really hot and a mesh jacket too.

I didnt buy a HD because I dont actually like them. The guv at the training school has a Soft tail with flames on it lol . I rib him about it constantly . I have ridden that and I dont like it. It hasnt got the finess of the TBird and it certainly hasnt got the extra ummph that the TBird has. I dont like the look of any of the HD's except the VRod and the tank is too small for what I want a bike for so I have no reason to buy one .

I am looking for a second bike now for winter and fancy a street tripple as I rode a Bonnie and It feels too small for me and for winter I need a bit more plastic and anodizing as Im sure you know. So rich poser to part time instructor and I still love my TBird and look forward to taking a street bike for a spin in the cold and wet.

I am really sorry you have only met the wrong kind of cruiser rider over here in the UK .I wish we could meet up one day over a pint and Im sure I could change you mind a bit maybe .

Re: Rider Labels

Wow, what a polarizing subject this has become. I feel enlightened too. I had no idea the forum members could/would be classified into a category based on what/when/where we ride. I must have missed it when I read the forum FAQs or when I filled out my profile. Now that I know, here are a few facts about me. Hopefully, this will enable you to categorize me accurately.

1. I ride/buy all types of bikes from dirt to sport to cruiser to adventure, etc...

2. I'm a HUGE Triumph fan. Simply put (and, generally speaking), I find their bikes to be of good quality and do what I wish them to do. In addition, the local dealer is the best. That said, I have been known to buy other brands such as Honda, Suzuki and, yes, even Harley Davidson.

3. As stated in number one, I *do* ride cruisers (along with all other styles), but in my defense I ride about 12K miles a year and I've no aversion to riding in inclement weather so I sincerely hope that bodes well for my defense against the charge of "poser".

4. I do not wear any sort of "look at me" clothing. I *do* wear full protective gear. Although, I will admit I do tend to wear Triumph t-shirts (or long sleeve or sweat shirt, depending on weather) underneath my riding jacket. I apologize for that as I know it's a declaration of pride in ownership.

5. I'm accountant. Thus, it is true that I tend to leave most of the major twisting of nuts and bolts to professionals. That said, I do have the ability to change fluids and make minor adjustments. I apologize for choosing a career that I enjoy and does a pretty decent job of providing for my family in lieu of learning a trade that would keep in the good graces of some of you. If I'd have only known this decision would be frowned upon by *real* bikers...

Re: Speed & Times

Bonnies, Speedmasters, T-Birds... Fast? Please, my Tiger will wax any of these bikes in any situation. So what? There are plenty of bikes that will wax the Tiger. So what? There is always someone/something bigger, badder, faster, etc...

Ride what you want to ride and let others do the same. ;)

$hite,...You cruiser guys are sensitive!!

DruAde, I'm from across the pond,...Maybe it's a punctuation thing? Who is "doing" you? Could you translate this statement for me please.

"I can tell you they pose when they come back to say "Hi". And why the hell not its fun and also fun to take the Mick out of them as they do me."

.
The new riders . They come back to the school usually after they have passed their test with their new bikes . I take the pee out of them for wearing Power Rangers outfits if they are on sports bikes and they take the pee out of me for riding a bike that is twice as big and twice as slow. I tell them at least I can help the local farmers out pulling tree stumps .

I probably should have put a "to" in there hehehe. As in, "as they do "to" me."

Forums are odd things and what people are trying to say actually gets lost in translation when you cant see their faces. Always happens .

Like I said before we are all motorbike riders and we are all brothers on the road as far as I am concerned .

I am happy some are haveing fun.It is fun to rib each other if you can take it as good as you can give it.I only started this crap because I had to read daz talk about how bad his bird was for months ,when it was easy to figure it wasnt as fast as he thinks it is.
The tbird wasnt ment to be a drag bike anyway. Most of you bought it for what it is a good cruser prob one of the best out there. But as most of know bigger dont mean faster.About any jap sport bike will show you that.I just hate to see people come on here and talk like they know something that I know is not true.

I'm not so impressed with the dyno curves on that thread.
Last year my 1600 Kingpin dyno'ed at 83.76 HP and 103.33 TQ. The only mod was Stage 1 slip-on pipes.
I'll scan the dyno graph and post it next week.
This year my stone stock 1700 Vision dyno'ed at about 82 HP and 101 TQ. I don't have the printed dyno graph on that one. But the torque curve was very flat and started early. Even though the output numbers are lower than the Kingpin the Vision pulls like a freight train!

I fitted pink tassels and kinky stabilisers to my TB and got my jacket and helmet and arse enblazened with "1700cc" logos, put on my arse out chaps and sang YMCA as I rode into the bar at my local pub.

Can't see the problem myself...... we are all the same really. :)

Hi my 1600 T bird seems to be limited to 220 km . I’ve fitted a big air filter short pipes and a power comader 3 ,so no trouble getting revs in 6 th gear But just revs just stop at 220 km .Dealers tell me they can’t delete this but can push it out , but haven’t tried it yet
