Fuggin Fabricattion & Engineering

Hello All,

We are Fuggin Fabrication an exhaust manufacturer and we are looking at developing some products for the Thunderbird model to start with. Possibly a CAT eliminator, cross over pipe for the Thunderbird. If there are those of you that may have any interest let me know.
We currently manufacture exhaust systems for American V-Twins and Metric motorcycles. You can check out our web-site at www.fugginfabrication.com.

Oh yeah... I'd pick up those pipes in a heartbeat if they were available.

1600 Cross-Over Pipe

Here is a drawing of the CAT-Eliminator pipe that we will be starting with. We will be looking at exhaust systems like the pictured in the near future.

Looks good!!!

One question for you while we have you...

Can you explain what the front (header) crossover pipe is for?? Why do our bike sound so quite when at idle??? Is it because of this front crossover pipe? If indeed it is, please make a full system.

I think the point of a crossover pipe is to use the exhaust pulses and reflections of both pipes to asist with scavenging the exhaust gasses from the combustion chambers. They don't have anything to do with making the bike quieter.

Even if it did make the bike quieter, getting rid of the crossover is likely to have a fairly significant effect on performance (i.e. it will be worse without the crossover). I'd rather sacrifice noise than performance.

BTW, what is the bike in your post near the top of this thread? Besides it being a T'bird. Now, with some less chrome (notably on the engine and the wheels) and maybe some drag bars, that would look absolutely perfect.

I want to know why we need two crossovers. The cat being the second in the system, do we need the front one too?

The front cross over pipe balances the exhaust gases between the two pipes. Because of the small diameter it really doesn’t add much performance value other than equalizing the pressure. With the CAT Eliminator pipe we are proposing it will give a greater scavenging of the exhaust gasses due to the larger diameter pipe. This should improve the low to mid range performance. We will know more once we have tested the bike. Our plan is to Dyno the stock configuration and then test with the CAT Eliminator pipe. We will also be able to see if the air/fuel mixture will be correct and if the stock ECU will compensate for the change or if a fuel controller will need to be added to bike.
All the exhaust models we design and manufacture go through this type of testing process. We will not put an exhaust system on the market unless we know it works.

Question A/F ratio

Doug:
In the event that the A/F Ratio is not corrected by the stock ECU,would a simple re-mapping correct the A/F ratio? I donot know if this is possible as I'm not familar with the stock ECU.

Kindest Regards

prof. Mike
