The Bird Flew Again Yesterday

We've had a string of good weather here in West Michigan. Yesterday hit about 40 with solid sunshine and no wind so my son and I took our first rides of the season. The season has begun

Weather permitting, we'll be heading down to Lillington, NC at the end of the month to see my daughter.

I guess we have the sunshine that SoCal normally has right now. We have had nothing but solid sunshine since March started. My son and I did 132 miles yesterday. It was 45 degrees, but motorcycling is like skiing - if you dress properly you stay warm. We had no issues except our fingers. Even winter motorcycle gloves are no match for 70 mph winds. If I keep this up, hand grip warmers will be called for.

I order the new Arai RX-Q yesterday. Will be a few weeks before I see it, but will report back after I get some riding time with it.

The sun is starting to peek through today. Glad you got to ride. I don't think I could retire to a clime where I could not ride for winter.
Had enough of it in Massachusetts. At least we can go to the snow in the morning and ride in the afternoon.

When it's cold i always put my hands on the engine while waiting at red lights. Warms up the leather and you're good for a block or two. Better than nothing ! Today it looks like i can fly a bit if i want, even tho it's cold (what WE call cold here) and could rain later on. I'm gonna see how it is in an hour or so and if it warms up this bird shall fly...

Yup, it was nice out. Finally got the QR sissy bar on. My wife said she would not go until it was on. Now there is that tiny seat issue. I like the looks of the small size, but may have to do something. Like get the bigger one for her rides.

So, it was 56 degrees here today. The TBird and I had to hit the road for a couple of hours. Now I've really got spring fever!!!

The whole concept of a "riding season" is one I can't get my head around. If I couldn't ride all year round, I probably wouldn't have a bike. It would be too frustrating.

It was 57 yesterday and I put over 200 miles on my Bird. Bought some cold weather gear over the winter and am glad I did. Bike was great except the bolts on the riders backrest loosened up and it almost fell off. Need locktight on them. Love the longhaul seat and especially the backrest. The windshield does have some buffeting at high speeds but only when there are crosswinds. 2 1/2 hrs on the seat makes the butt hurt however I think I'll get used to it. Might get the rider floorboards so I can move my feet around occasionally.
