Well the weather held off this weekend and I was able to pick up my Bird after the BB kit was installed (more on the BB kit in another post). The custom fabricator behind the Triumph dealer made me a set of mid-pipes to replace the catalytic converter and they turned out great. He used a titanium header that was laying around and made two sets, one is on my bike and the other set is for sale. If you're intrested in them you can contact Performance Cycle direct toll free at 1-888-297-8799 or contact them via email at
parts@performancecycleokc.com, cost is $100 plus shipping. If you want a set they will make more to order, but most likely future sets will be made of stainless steele, not a whole lot of titanium headers laying around that they are willing to cut up.

Here's a pic of the bike without the cat which you could see before, and now you can't:
As for sound, replacing the cat significantly increases the sound, I presently have the short TOR's installed and the sound with the cat removed is as loud as the BC pipes which also eliminates the cat. It is subtle at idle and while cruising but when you get on the gas it wakes up significantly. I suspect if someone wants more sound and performance they could keep their stock pipes and replace the cat with the mid-pipes and the sound would be much better and I'm sure the cat is pretty restrictive based on the amount of muffling they do. I just may put my stock pipes back on so i can provide feed-back as to the amount of sound increase there is by replacing the cat.
