Now 104 Cubes and no Cat, But!

My Bird is now buffer at 104 cubes and her cardio is much better too, she's breathing much easier now since the cat has been removed. But, I can't pick it up and ride it for who knows how long because we are forcasted to receive 1-4" of snow tonight. My gosh, this will be the fifth significant snowfall here in Oklahoma this winter (unheard of!). If I hear one more politician and/or scientist mention "Global Warning" I'm going to hit them with the largest snow ball they've ever seen.

I stopped by the dealer Tuesday and with exception of the cat being removed, actually the cat was removed but the fabricator had not fabbed up the midpipes yet to replace it, the Bird is ready to ROCK. Wow! she is sporting a new look now and I was awe struck with how awesome she looks with the headlight cowl, painted radiator shroud, solo seat, chrome front end, T-bars, tear drop mirrors and much more. Look wise all that is missing is the chrome wheels and pulley. The fabricator was suppose to have it ready today but with snow tonight and tomorrow that might spoil the opportunity to pick her up and ride. I tell ya though, if there is no snow and the roads are not to wet Satuday afternoon I'll pick her up and ride no matter how cold (oh did I say heated grips installed as well).

Come on Spring!!!!!!!!!!

Are you having anyting done to the bike to make adjustments for taking the cat off? Could you give some detail as to the complexity and cost of having this done? And of course when the snow goes we'd love to hear how it rides. (and pics to!!)

The dealer's mechanic will be able to make minor adjustments utilizing Triumph diagnostic/adjustment tools. The mechanic will make slight air/fuel adjustments to enrichen the mixture where he feels it is needed. Once I get some miles on it he will tune it by riding it and then I may take it to a local dyno and check it out. however I don't think removing the cat is going to effect peforamance or cause in any ill effect to the motor.

As for pics, here ya go (click on pic to see larger pic):

If you are interested you can purchase them from Performance Cycle in OKC for $100 plus shipping. Their toll free number is 1-888-297-8799 or you can email them at parts@performancecycleokc.com
Note: the ones in the pic are made from a set of titanium headers that were laying around the dealership and they made two pairs, so there is one pair for sale made of titanium which is very light. They will make more mid-pipes to order but they will likely be made of stainless steele.

FYI, I'm not sure I posted this information here or not, but... I have been running catless (due to the British Customs pipes) since mid November. During my BB install I got a chance to both look at the internals and talk with the mechanic concerning the issue of leanness. Both my personal inspection and the mechanics comments indicated that I had no lean issues at all. In fact my plugs could of been used as the poster child for a good burning engine.

I'm sure the tuning can be improved greatly and I'm not touching the air intake until I get a tuning solution but I'd not be remotely concerned about running catless without addressing it if it were me (which of course it already is).

Congrats on taking delivery OKC. I looked at some of your pics, the cowl looks great. I'm just waiting for your review to become available (database issue that is being sorted as I type)

A speeding ticket.

Said in jest but with a bit of truth to it. 100 comes up really quickly these days. I ran the bike up to 100 before on numerous occasions but it was always a decision. Now, however whether its in a passing situation or the road gets particularly 'moving' I look down surprised to find myself already there. It just pulls so well.

I should be doing my 500 mile service this week.

Congratulations on moving to 104 inches with no CAT. Hope the weather breaks soon so you can get it out on road and give your review. You have a very sporty look with the Cowl, Bars, and solo seat setup.

Looks great and I am sure it will run as good as it looks.
