IMHO both are winners. I really like the 1700 in Phantom Haze Red and the price is right on. Im calling my dealer today to see how long it will take to get one. BTW I'm the one who thinks all motorcycles should be Black. I have had a change of heart when I saw this bike. IMHO this bike will turn alot of heads. My Harley riding buddies are just going to SH-T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been considering the TBird since Nov. I have built a light tourer on the web (without leather bags, want hard bags) and pretty much everything on the SE except the mid-side shield (I think the Roadster shield would be too tall for me (5'9"). Also added ft/rear guards (dresser). Test rode the bike last weekend and it has more than enough power for me (don't need a 1700). But then I am an old guy......

I would have to see the red in person but it saves at least a $1,000 over building the bike from scratch. Would there be a market for a used/new Triumph saddlebags/brackets? I expect I could get the shield cut down if necessary.

I suspect you could unload them. There are lots of guys looking for bags for their bike. Sell them at a good discount and I'm sure they'll be gone in no time.

The tourer looks like an incredibly good deal ( I was pretty set on the aluminum and black, but that red, has got me thinkin).

what I don't get is the price on the 1700 bird. why so high, doesn't add up, if you compare to the 'build your bike' cost. Unless I am missing something the price is about $1000 too high. the paint can't be it.

Mag, I've not priced it out so I'm not sure, but I suspect your not including the labor costs to install the bige bore kit in your online shopping. That will be 11 hours of your shops time.

Question FYI on install costs

I'm looking at get the BB kit in a month or so, and my dealer quoted me a cost of $1950.00 installed. What are any of you other guys paying or paid for the BB kit and install?

U, that's on par with what most paid. I paid about $1550 for mine but my dealer has a cheaper hourly rate than most ($65)
