Tax Credit For Thunderbird

I believe there’s a tax credit for new motorcycles purchased only in 2009 (part of the stimulus package). Can anybody elaborate on this? I see my accountant on Friday.

If you make less than $125K ($250K for joint filers), then you can deduct the sales and excise tax you paid. MI is a 6.5% sales tax state, so a purchasing a $15K bike in 2009 would result in $975 of sale tax. That amount can be deducted from you gross income before taxes are calculated, i.e., its a deduction, not a credit.

Just bring purchase documentation with you when you see you tax guy.

I wish this would apply to us poor cold Canadians whom don't get to ride usually more than 7 months of the year!!
