The T-Bird and Detachable Saddle Bags, Windshield, and Sissy Bar.

This may be a tall order to fill, but Im looking for pics of detachable bags, a detachable windshield, and detachable sissy bar *with the objects in question removed*. I'd like to see if the brackets make the bike look gawdy.

A T-Bird is in my future and Im trying to make a determination on whether or not buying the detachable accessories is worth it. I'd like to have a "dual purpose" bike, one to take on a few days trip with my bride but also to have the ability to hop onto a more sleeker "in town" or mini-tour bike.

The T-Bird fits both roles very well, imo. I'll be trading in my '08 Kawa Vulcan 900LT.

Looking for similar information .......

I've just ordered my T'bird in Phantom Red Haze and I ordered the sissy bar, rack and panniers and mounting kit at the same time because it's going to take about 3 months for the bike to get here to Oz and the accessories appear to be very scarce here at the moment.

What I'd like to know from all you more knowledgeable T'birders is;

I know that the sissy bar and rack are detachable, but are the panniers also readily detachable as well? My Dealer has gone off on hols for a week, so I thought I'd ask on here rather than trying to contact Triumph Oz.

Cheers guys and girls ......

Question Phantom Red Haze

Is that a new color in Australia? I have never seen that even on the Triumph site. Besides, Blue/White is the best color.

I think it's a new colour for the 'Special Editions' being released in Feb 2010.

Here's the link from the Triumph Oz website, but it relates to EICMA, an international show in Italy somewhere;

http://www.triumph.co.uk/australia/News_7597.aspx

Anyway, I was told they are producing a small number of T'birds in these two new colours and while I liked the blue, they described the red as almost black in the dark and a candy apple red in bright sunlight. It'll probably be a real s**t to touch up if required but I just really like the red.

DRDARREN
Are the ghost brackets different again from the standard pannier kit off the Accessories page?

Cheers

Jimbo

Both a Red Haze and a Blue Haze are listed on the Triumph UK site as being available early 2010. You can see pictures of these via the UK site.

sorry about the lack of response. the ghost brackets are different than the ones from triumph. if you google them, you can see them. they are great. once you mount them to the bags, they attach to brackets on the bike and are locked on.

Thanks drdarren,

Excuse my 'naivity' but; does that mean if I buy the Ghost Brackets, I shouldn't then need to buy the Triumph pannier kit, and I'll only need to purchase the panniers themselves?

That website doesn't show a unit for the T'bird. Are they bringing one out or did you just use one for the America, Rocket???

Cheers

Jimbo

I have the bags with the Triumph brackets. They are well made and adjust to the lean angle of the bike however, they take about 10 - 15 minutes to remove and about 20 mins to replace. Since I want to remove them frequently I am looking at either Ghost Brackets or Easy Brackets. Easy Brackets have a design especially for the Thunderbird with a mod for those with the detachable sissybar. Ghost Brackets doesn't mention either. Anyone have any better info?

wrt the sissy bar; it detaches easily and you wouldn't know it had been there. I also have the long haul passenger seat and the wife recently bought me the longhaul dual seat with backrest. Seats are easy to change and you can have a multitude of looks and functions.

Windshield is easy to remove.
