lean angles??

OK all you canyon carvers, who's worn the hero blobs off then? I'm still sitting tight on my credit card as I'm not sure a T-bird will have the ground clearance I need for some fast twisties, especially 2-up.
Just been to Skye again , 200 miles each way of empty highland roads, and although I've had 3 short test rides on a T-bird, , I've scraped something metal on each ride. Great bike and handles well too but can you lean off on the corners to stop it grounding??
(I'm riding a 955 Sprint ST and and old, much modified for speed 1200 Sportster) But a BB kitted Tbird does tempt me-I'm not really a cruiser but like a big grunty twin and HD's aren't in the same league as a T-bird.

From the two demo rides I've done, the only thing that touches down is the peg feelers. I think the rest of the bike has plently of clearance. I would take off the feeler, and grind a bevel on the end of the pedal to make it a fine cornerer. I base this on the fact that I was lifting my inside foot off the peg in the corner and it would fold up and nothing else on the bike scraped. I think it otherwise to be rock steady in the corners.

Just a thought I had the other day but haven't tested. How much difference does the rear shock setting make in lean angle? I went from 1 to 2 and it seems like I'm not hitting the feelers as often. Does it make a difference? or have I just mentally registered how far I can go before hitting?

Cool

I've had my bird for 1100 clicks so far and I've done a fair bit of riding in some twisty stuff. I've scraped the peg feelers while pushing it, but also managed to alter my corner entries a little to limit it, but nothing drastic. This is the only downside to a bike that has been more than I expected. It handles everything except decent lean angles..but it is a cruiser after all, even though riding it feels much more than just a cruiser...I love it. I will experiment with the rear suspension pre-load to see if it makes any difference also, but I'm a lousy 70kg so uping the pre-load will make her nice and stiff in the rear end for me. I may even resort to the peg feeler grind down and bevel. We'll see.

What am I talking about?....grind down the peg feelers? They can unscrew off !..I may try this, but the bottom of the pegs look too nice to then go and scrape them around a bend.

Thumbs up

Holy crap Thatch...see what happens when you get the British Custom pipes and the BB kit...you become a thunderbirder from hell...mad as, and no regard for the beast. Dunno bout you , but I hate it when the pegs touch...especially hard. I tend to lift my inside foot when i hit a bend deep. Go for it fella !

I hate the limit of the feelers. I may take them off and plug them with just a set screw. I try to keep my feet on the pegs so that the edge of my boot touches first. This bike loves to be leaned over!!!
