Helmets.

What kind of helmets do you guys wear? Full face, Half, Retro, Built-in shade? And where do you guys purchase? Dealer or on-line?

I wear a half hemet in the warm weather when it gets below 50. Don't buy a helmet on line unless you've tried one on at a dealer first so you know how it's going fit.

I wear a typical half helmet most of the time. I have a Shark full face for the cold and inclement weather. I have just ordered a Davida Speedster and visor as a hopeful 90% replacement of both.

Don't get me started ! I have spent a few hours in the last few days and in fact just got done searching again. I generally wear a 1/2 or 3/4. But i'm looking to replace it with a chopper/fighter style helmet and a full face i'd use just for cold morning commutes. But i always have a very hard time with this because if i can't try them locally i can't buy. Buying online is horrible because i'll never get the right fit first time, and usually you have to pay shipping. So for example, i found a helmet i really want the other day but they only sell them online. So i pay $15 shipping and if it doesn't fit i pay another $15 back. Thats $30 just to try it. Then if i ask to exchange it for another size thats $45 i've paid in shipping. Lets not even talk about if the helmet just doesn't fit my head shape and i have to send that one back too ! And the problem for me is that almost every chopper/fighter pilot style helmet is not available anywhere near me locally except the AVG dragon which doesn't work for me. So in order to get the helmet i want i would have to buy online and likely pay several hundred dollars in shipping fees to buy a $60-100 helmet. That said, i think i give up. I'll stick with the barely satisfactory Z1r i have now and see if i can find a cheap full face for cold weather locally. that one i don't much care about other than it's warmer for those rarecold morning commutes maybe 20 times a year.

So i always end up buying locally. That is, unless thier prices are rediculous. then i will try it on locally but buy online. not nice, i know. But to be honest i don't give a F.

fullface in AGV (3) and HJC (2) variations. I'm always on the prowl for a different looking helmet. I like the style of the Bell Star but haven't cracked open me coin curse yet.

You would of loved my shark helmet then Daz. I had to pay $80 shipping for that one and of course no one around here sells shark. Talk about gamble. It paid off though, it's a great helmet and fits really well. I'm just not big on full face helmets unless the weather is bad.

This is what i want. I love this style. Internal visor is a huge plus, and this is the only one of this style i've seen with that. And it's DOT certified yet dirt cheap. But alas, no way to buy locally. It's not so much the copter/fighter style, but it has that style of visor plus that inner visor i desperately want.

$55 and free shipping and there is a question? Just get it, if you don't like it make a lamp out of it. At that price you really can't go wrong.
